My 2013 with manual transmission is having some back up camera issues. The camera displays on the mirror.

When i put the trans in reverse the lines will display on the mirror for a few seconds and then goes blank and no image ever shows. My reverse lights do work. So that should indicate that the switch on the transmission is working.

Today i installed a new camera in the tailgate latch but it still shows the same symptoms. What else could be the issue?
This is what displays on the mirror for a few secon

I changed the camera with the one below. It looks just like the original. I guess it could be the mirror but if the mirror is faulty how could it display the lines as shown in the above post? How could I determine if the mirror is faulty?
At first the image showing was intermittent which occurred for a few weeks then wouldn't show the image at all.

Is your mirror stock or aftermarket? Mine is aftermarket cable connector for camera is rca. Basically your just trying to determine if the camera or mirror is bad.

Did you check the wiring under the bed? Maybe a rodent had a little snack….

My mirror is original equipment. Does the original mirror have a spot to plug in that cable? Guess I'll have to check the wiring.

I probably should add that my mirror still displays the temperature. Think that would be an indication that the mirror is functioning properly.

Id check the wiring where it goes from the tailgate to the frame, that would be the most obvious spot for damage since it gets flexed every time you open and close the tailgate.

So I checked out the wiring after is passes through the frame. There is a connector there for the harness that goes up to the camera. All looked good but pulled the two halves apart anyway and sprayed both with contact cleaner and then reassembled. No fix.

So from doing a little reading I see this operates on 6 volts. If I pull the connector off at the camera I should get 6 volts from one of the pins? Correct? Same goes for the supply side of the connector that I just cleaned with the contact cleaner.. believe it's the red wire for power.

    Any other suggestions?

I also disconnected the battery for 20 minutes then reconnected. No fix.

Read another thread here where the poster said the fix was running a new ground wire for the back up camera. Anyone familiar with that? Thought the ground would be included in the harness that connects to the camera. Is it in that harness and then exits the harness somewhere around the tail gate?
