Have someone sit in the car and change it over while you watch to see if the lever actually moves to check the cables. Or pull it off and play with it while looking inside to check the valve internally.

My cables are corroded and get stuck, so I just move the valve by hand when necessary. Here in Arizona it’s almost always set to AC

I would suspect the horns are shorted out and most likely submerged. Probably toast.
Unplug the horns and see if noise stops.
    Just my first thought.

you know I haven’t tried the panic button or blowing the horn since the ‘incident’ lol. I’ll try it out tomorrow. All tuckered out now. That cold zaps the energy right out of me. I’ll report back first thing tomorrow fellas. Good evening, thank you for your wisdom as always.

Looking into upgrading my alternator as well, I have a 500watt class D amp 10” sub and winch. Since adding these extra accessories I’ve been getting excessive corrosion on ring posts and cable crimp ends. Not sure what the stock alternator pushes , weather it’s a higher output or not , and I am definitely upgrading the harness cabling with 2awg or 1/0 from the geep cables site. Definitely replacing starter also. Any help with sourcing a higher output alternator that’s plug and play would be appreciated fellas. Upon hooking my sub and amp back up, my amp is automatically in protect mode. So something is up gonna disconnect all speakers and turn the truck back on see if it is internal amp issue or not. alright signing off for real.

@TACOTU3 starter motor(new), big7 1/0 upgrade kit(no fancy wire sleeving), denso 210-0461 alternator ordered(refurb), eta Tuesday on most of it. Got some work to do next week, Tacotu3, thank you for the links today, and help with the heater issue, gonna get on that tomorrow morning. I'm not as lazy as I seem on the research side, just not as fruitful, and I've usually got someone popping in and distracting me since im historically never home, but have been the last few weeks.. As always, appreciate everyone, but mostly you tacotu3 haha. And I really appreciate the discount code for rock auto. saved most of shipping cost. Tomorrows a new day.

My first thought was resistance in the battery cables/connections, maybe the starter itself. The starter itself being submerged may have gunked up the inside. I donr hnow how many "bad" starters I've disassembled, cleaned and lubed over the years with amazing sucess.

Edit: posted before catching up on past post.
Gotta say i admire op's stick to it?

I really do like this truck. Between that and it having a 6 year old chassis from the frame swap, my persistence is understandable.

so, same thing this morning, click no crank no start. Letting it sit in accessory mode got it started again.
When it does choose to start, the first sound I get just before it starting is the starter whirring , then it catches the flywheel and cranks and starts.
Pretty sure my issue is with the starter. New one shipped today. Tuesday for big 7 alternator and starter. Gonna diagnose my sound system and play with the hvac issues. Not much else to do except spray the bolts to be removed for the work next week. I slept in hard today haha. Also told the new boss i prefer company vehicle. Hope everyone is doing well!

Yup almost exactly the same when the starter on my 1st gen was failing. Tapping the starter with a hammer also made it work more consistently but sounds like a non-issue since you will get a new one very soon.

I also did a voltage drop reading from lead post to outer ring of ring terminal. Both posts show no drop. Went farther to the exposed section of wire on the ring terminal crimps, no drop on either side. Tomorrow I’m gonna check voltage on battery before I try to start it to see if it’s at the same level as the reading I’ll take tonight before I go to bed. Haven’t done a parasitic draw test yet, and wouldn’t be surprised if I do have something leeching the battery when it’s off.
