Back when I was on 33’. All this is is 2 ratchet straps. The spare tire under the bed messed with my clearance to much

I put on some bed bars and it wouldn’t fit there. Again 2 ratchet straps.

Old thread, same issues, been reading other boards for ideas. I am trying out this HDPE idea from a 4Runner board. My biggest reason is for washway rock ledge departures- for tall enough ones, the area under bed drags over the ledge and the lowest point underneath is the spare tire if kept there, followed by the hitch receiver. I have a skinny 255/85r16 as a spare, and a receiver skid. I can't fit it in the garage with a rear tire carrier. Giving it a run.

Edit-Pics of design idea from toyota-4runner forum

First stab. We will see if 1/2" can stay intact with empty bed weight above and rock shelf underneath, and scrape over, after the rear tires droop to ground.

My thought is worth a cheap DIY stab rather than scraping your leaf spring hangers over rock till they bend.
    Nothing to lose really.

This alternative setup to high clearance rear actually works. I tried it out today. The HDPE board against the spare under is strong enough to hold up light bed weight and drag over rock. Obviously, try to clear at angle on tires first however you can spot and use the skids to clear the rear.
