Turbo a 2.7L Tacoma

I’m thinking about putting a turbo on my Tacoma. Mostly for a little power. I’m wondering if I need to do anything to the transmission or if anyone knows how much it can handle.

For the most part I’m keeping majority of the truck stock. I do want to put a brush guard on it eventually as well.

 

The transmission will be fine but you’ll need a stiffer pressure plate for your clutch. Im running a stiffer pressure plate with a stock disc.

I tried a bunch of aftermarket discs but the springs in them caused harmonic vibrations at certain rpms, so I went back to a stock disc.

 

What about tuning?

 

I’m running a haltech elite 1500 and using a boomslang adapter harness. I’m not sure if a harness is available for 13-15 trucks. You might give them a call if you want to go that route.
