Is this plug for a trailer hookup? If so, is there a specific connector I need to get. I’m trying to add a 4+7 pin to my bumper.

Yea that look like Connector BE1 which is for the trailer plug sub-harness, your truck may not be fully wired for a 7 way if it doesn't have the tow package.

I’m under the impression that it has the tow package because I have the trans cooler, was just confused why it never came with a trailer plug.

Maybe the PO removed it if they weren't using it.
It does have a tendency of getting broken since it's about the lowest thing on the rear aside from the hitch.

Yeah that’s most likely. I always thought it was integrated in the bumper and there’s no hole for it or anything but after you said that I’m assuming it’s hanging below the bumper on some sort of bracket. So if I have the tow package, I can run a 7 pin? And I just need one that has that BE1 connector?

Yea it's under the truck next to the hitch, not a great spot if you ask me but there's not really any good spot for it that doesn't require drilling holes.

I'm sure you can probably buy the trailer plug and su-harness from Toyota if it's still available but as corroded as those pins look and on a 19 year old truck you may be better off just cutting it off, extending the wires, and putting and aftermarket plug on it.

This sounds like an after thought design of Toyota.

My dad's 2012 Super Duty is in the same spot although the bracket is designed better and is beefier.

I mean if your not gona use the factory harness that plugs into it then what I would do is get a 7 way trailer plug, a section of 7 way trailer wire, and some crimp & seal heatshrink butt connectors, all of which you should be able to find at your local auto parts or hardware store.
Mount your plug where you like and wire it in, I can help with wire colors when you get that far.
