it would have to be overfilled and you would have to have a very poor understanding of where the engine is and where the transmission is.

Guys. If you remove the transmission overflow plug with the engine OFF, about 2 quarts will drain. About another quart left in the pan.

If you remove the overflow plug with the engine ON and the transmission at the correct temperature, no fluid should come out.

The above assumes transmission fluid level is set correctly.

Without pics we have no idea what he was calling a drain plug and what he was calling a oil filter

Been doing more lurking than posting for a bit, but sorted a few things and should have more time. Any thoughts on the mystery vanishing oil drain plug/filter/pan/tacoma even?

Man, it seems like we have a thread about this every week. Maybe Toyota should label them.

I agree put a label on the drain plugs or put a label on the pan that says do not attempt to change oil unless you are qualified.

Respectfully, if you can't identify a part of the drive-train and it's corresponding drain plug you're not qualified.
How are you supposed to even fill stuff if you don't know what you just drained?

Might be a little late for that. Don’t think any third gen’s coming outta the factory anytime soon.

But……… I know this guy that likes to rip hellcats to shit and tacos too. Maybe they would come up with a 3d printed oil pan that’s says oil, Japanese fonts also, maybe a trd logo, but def a molle/hex panel, should be in the neighborhood of $787.

This story makes you never want to buy a used car . Makes me cringe.Everyone has there things that they are good at. He should stick with the dealer oil change . Just like I won’t mess with anything too technical on a computer. Not my thing
