2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport 14” screen

Does anyone know how to remove the blue screen once your subscription expires seems I can’t get rid of it, don’t know how.

The thing is when you turn your truck on before getting to Android Auto the screen is always coming on

You can use CarPlay or android auto and you will almost never see that screen.

I agree with Taco2GR86 and have never seen that screen with my CarPlay.

I’ve never see this blue screen you guys speak of except when I first got my truck and connected my phone to it. When I turn my truck I get the Toyota logo splash intro screen and then a warning to drive safely and obey laws etc screen and then it goes to nav screen or apple CarPlay screen automatically.

@Taco Ji I don't think you'll see it until your trial subscription ends.

I see how long is our subscription? One year? I’ve had my truck since March.

According to Toyota's brochure (page 10), Remote Connect is one year, Safety Connect and Service Connect are ten years, and Drive Connect has a one year trial on certain trims or with the premium audio package.

In the past, Remote Connect was available separately for $8/mo or $80/yr, but now apparently has to be bundled with Drive Connect or Integrated Streaming for $15/month or whatever price Toyota decides to charge in the future.

As someone considering buying a 4th gen, that's pretty annoying. The $80/yr I wouldn't mind, it's about equivalent to my Directed SmartStart app enabled remote start on my 3rd gen, and I do enjoy that functionality -- but I don't need or want Drive Connect since I'll be using CarPlay with Waze or Maps.

... and for further aggravation, Ford provides that functionality for free for the life of the vehicle (wife has a Bronco Sport). Nav does need a subscription, but is unneeded since she uses CarPlay

TBH that did get me to take a good look at the current Ford Ranger. Trade off is Ford seems not to have any equivalent of the wallet key that I've enjoyed for years on my 3rd gen thanks to the Lexus credit card key mod. Just grab my wallet and go. Ford also has no digital key capability, so I'd be stuck carrying a fob all the time. Fortunately I don't have to do anything right now.

Here is the blue screen I was talking about, I was told by Toyota that this is the default screen since they did the update.

What happens when you have your smartphone to automatically connect to CarPlay. Does it still go through blue screen?

So even though you followed the directions in the YouTube vid it doesn’t work? That sucks.

Something isn't set up correctly, probably on your phone.

    Glad you're calling "bull shit."
