@SMKYTXN is there any way I can order from you a replacement hardware kit for my gas tank skid plate?

I bought a new truck and I want to transfer the skid from my old truck to the new truck. I’d like to have all new hardware to go on the new unit since the skid is still in great shape but the straps are a little “how ya doin” after many many long years and brutal winters

I’m about to start really pulling major parts off of this truck and my current debate is, do i fully part it out and keep the spare parts that matter to me? Or try to sell it off as a mostly complete, running and driving unit in need of a ton of repair?

@tacobell007 do you have a steering column, dash, center console, back window, front fenders, rad support, headlights, grill, fog lights and front bumper? :anonymous:

Also, i’m about to begin the process of REEEEEEALLY robbing my old rig of all the good shit. I’m going to have a metric fuck load of parts for sale. If anyone is looking for a second gen tacoma to make an insane trail buggy out of or any specific parts, please reach out.

2008 ACLB base model SR5 4x4 4.0 auto in Indigo Ink Pearl (dark blue) ABSOLUTELY RUST FREE 141,398 miles at time of death. I’m keeping my lift and a ton of parts but there will be a ton more up for grabs. I can make the truck run and drive on completely stock suspension if someone wants to try to save it, but they will have to understand due to my extreme sentimental attachment, if someone wants to put it back on the road, its going to be VERY expensive to buy as a whole running and driving truck and even more expensive to save it.
As in, if I take the time to make in run and drive and be completely back to stock, someone is going to have to pay probably $8500 cash for it for me to even consider it.

So i’d rather save the motor for myself and a ton of other parts for myself and part it out. Someone can save this cab and frame with some time on a frame machine and some body work.

EDIT: i’m going to make a thread with the truck and updated photos when I have everything off of it that I need for the red truck and I will update that with the current status of all available parts

Found more frame damage to document. Looking more like i’m going to have to go the FULL part out route.

Frame is severely buckled and delaminated on the Driver’s side right next to the fuel tank:

food for thought, since you were thinking about rebuilding it and keeping it. The part at the rear can be hammered out and rewelded solid. The cab mounts can be replaced with a mount replace kit, pick your brand on that one. The front end, just do a front end chop of the lower bar, then straighten the horns out and weld in a solid piece between the horns, higher up. I believe Warfab has a kit for that, or maybe Coastal?
The inner fenders and front subframe can be replaced with a trip to the JD Fabrication website and some fun coupons.

As far as long term rigidity of the rear, if the above wasn't enough to put your mind at peace, JD also has their SUA kit that is also a frame brace/shock relocate all in one.

Yeah, it'll be some money, but it'll live another day and be way better than OEM.

I spent a lot of time thinking about it and to me its not worth all the cost to save it. Everything I priced out put me just north of $15k to still have a totaled truck but on the road with a rebuilt title.

At one point in time I had all the links saved and deleted it all to not tempt myself further.

but it was the full core support kit from a company that just started making them, the full replacement lower suspension point kit, the high clearance front frame chop kit for better approach angle with the bumper that fits with it. Kinda like @EatSleepTacos once did. All new cab mounts. And all of that would still not fix the bent firewall, blown up steering column, blown air bags, bent passenger seat rails, blown out back window and anything in the front suspension that is bent. So its too much of a gamble
