As I was tinkering inside the truck, I inadvertently flipped the cover for the USB off and flew somewhere in the truck, I have no idea where, I truly believe the floor mat ate the son of a bitch, as I was cussing and yelling I reached over and opened the cover on the cigarette lighter/power outlet cover and it broke off, just by flipping it open. Never opened it since I owned the truck.

Now, I am looking for something to cover the holes. Etsy has nothing. Thoughts? I have cooled down some.IMG_1793.jpg

I'm going to ask you a question against my better judgment because of what a cluster f*** TW can become. But I would assume the display of your weapons in the open like that is for deterrence. If someone comes up to your window meaning ill will and sees you are armed they will change their mind. And I can understand that. On the other hand if someone is committed it seems to me that that instills in them the thought that they need to act first with deadly force before you get to that gun. I have a gun in my cab, and on me, but you would never know it. I feel that instills complacency and gives me the upper hand. Thoughts?

idk man.. thats why you gotta learn how to use it properly and read the situations and THINK about it. youre exactly right, just cuz i have a gun doesnt mean the other person doesnt or i cant get shot.. a lot of people in texas conceal carry.. but my gun is righttttt there.. and just because someone walks up to my window doesnt mean im gonna roll it down, my windows are tinted, ill read the situation 1st, and if i absolutely feel threatened then ill shoot from inside. idk. every situation or scenario can be different. i guess it all depends. keep training, stay prepped.

road rage and public shootings are a real thing, just be ready and only use it if you absolutely have to. i try to drive as safely as i can, i dont like causing problems on the road. but yeah, you just never know whos carrying and whos got the bigger ego to use it. some people have nothing to lose

Well thought out reply. That's a breath of fresh air on Tacoma World. Myself, I like looking harmless as a lamb, but that's just me.

I put this in my cigarette lighter outlet. It's small and pretty subtle.

For the cigarette lighter there are lots of options under “cigarette lighter dummy plug”.

I figured this one would be appropriate given that you’ve been firing off projectiles in the cab.

Another concern personally with any sort of open carry is that if someone doesn't respect it it really limits your options. People don't always act logically in stressfully situations. A person close enough to grab your gun becomes a threat that has to be dealt with forcing you to escalate the situation. A lot of police shootings happen as a result of this. Retention holsters can help but don't necessarily solve the problem. Someone you don't think is a threat who turns out to be can be a lot harder to deal with when a weapon is present as you have to focus first on defending it instead of immediatly neutralizing the threat. Up close and personal your body can be a much better weapon than a gun.

I just finished making custom blinds for my Snug Top Hi-Liner. I used a roll of reflective insulation, some out door water resistant material (camouflage which will face outside), and flannel fabric (facing on the inside).

Next project- build a bed box frame to go around the wheel well.

Noticed a couple neighbors standing around my other neighbors Corolla with the hood opened, I finally walked over to find out what the heck. By then other neighbors left, turns out even with a new battery he was getting nothing turning the ignition key. Nobody could figure it out, thanks to quick search on youtube, (none of them have knowledge of using a smartphone), I tell my elderly buddy to hit the ignition and maintain. Meanwhile I tap the starter with a 1/2" drive handle and whalah it starts. Hehe took me 13 minutes to diagnose another 20 to drive buddy in my truck to O'Reilly car parts to acquire a new starter, and about an hour to remove and replace. Haha he was amazed.

Jeez, $136.00+ for a tiny little starter. It fit in the palm of my hand.

And you probably saved the guy $500+ it would have cost to have a shop fix it.

For sure. Seriously, dam, how can folks afford that. Glad I can DIY... He is 80 this year, I'll help him anytime I can get a chance.

Good on you, so many times God’s hands are at the ends of our arms. There a place up here called the Gospel Garage, he fixes folks cars for free if he can and within reason. Our church helps with the cost of parts.

Could run around naked shouting "Eureka!" like Archimedes.

But the neighbors might not like it. The old man would, however, laugh. Guaranteed.
