I need to know if anyone here has made the cig liter port on the dash so it's got power all the time to power a dash cam? I hope it is as easy as removing a relay and jumping two pins!

Most people just use the Dongar dashcam adapter and their mirrors OEM connector for power.

That only works for the Homelink rearview mirrors I think. OP may not have that. Also I'm pretty sure that is switched power and not always-on, which is what the OP wants.

I've got the Dongar adapter and mine only works when the truck is on. Could be a newer product that does it tho.

I have a non-HomeLink mirror and the Dongar adapter works great.

Only Key On like you said though. Key Off would be amazing but I can get along without it.

"Always on" would likely need a voltage-monitor and auto-shutoff for the circuit for to ensure the battery can start the truck.

Sure. Maybe? Although the Garmin Mini2 has a 1.6A draw noted, which is more than my fridge. Haha!

I 2nd the dondang thingy! No need to run a wire all around the window and under the dash, and it keeps the socket free to use.

I’ve used the Dongar adapter/Garmin mini cam with 2 3G Tacomas and a Lexus. They work perfectly however they are switched with the ignition.

They have a universal power supply now that will power a dash cam for use when the truck is off but requires wiring on the 3rd gen.

Some car dash cams do that automatically.
-maybe someone here knows what models they are, I haven’t seen that in a long time, but remember reading that in one of the product descriptions. It’s probably the ones with parking monitor mode.

I have a Wolfbox rearview mirror cam setup, plugs into OBD port with the optional cable. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BZYN7MQT. It's switched so you can toggle full time power or on/off with ignition. It also has a safety shutoff to prevent battery drain.
