Nice! I still have to replace my transmission pan gasket. Mostly waiting for a good weekend where I can have the trans cool enough.

    Free Speaker Upgrade Upgrade
    5-5-25

I knew I wanted to seal up my door speakers better but hadn't yet got around to it. Today, a local business was closing and throwing out some old things, and I scored some XTC foam baffle enclosures for them, along with a 10" Subwoofer box!

Threw them on and they make a huge difference. I'll probably get around to the subwoofer at some point, the 12" I have works fine but I think a decent 10" will sound way better in the smaller cab. The box is also considerably smaller, which will be nice in my little access cab.

Not bad for a free mod but now that I know how much of a difference it makes in the lows and mids I would buy a pair in a heartbeat. If you're reading this and plan on upgrading your door speakers, do yourself a favor and get the foam seals along with it!

    New ditch lights!
    5-16-25

Ever since I bought my truck, the large ditch lights bothered me. I had owned the Nilight pair I had on there for a while and initially had them on my old CRV. They worked great, but because of the size, they caused the brackets to shake and vibrate. I ordered a pair of slimmer Nilight 2 LED lights, and they don't shake at all now. The new lights now sit below the bottom of my old lights, and they look way better in my opinion.

    Moving!
    6-30-25

Hello! I've been absent for about a month because I've been super busy with moving. My wife and I just moved from Michigan's UP to the northwest lower peninsula. I rented a U-Haul trailer and towed it about 500 miles & 15 hours over the course of a few trips back and forth. Tacoma did great, the trailer was usually around 3,500-4,000 lbs. I averaged about 12 MPG, which was what I was getting city driving anyways. I have a pair of Air Lift supports on the rear leaf springs, but I didn't end up needing them as my payload was still a couple hundred pounds under the max. Overall, I'm super happy with how the truck performed, and I'm glad I replaced the rusty transmission cooler lines because I don't think they would have survived this trip.

    Oh Sh*t Kit
    6-30-25

I've had the idea to make an emergency kit for my Tacoma for a while, but never really got around to doing it. I had an extra few hours this morning while setting up my new garage (will be a later post once it's all wrapped up.) I stopped by Harbor Freight and picked up a canvas bag, as well as a handful of other things. Once I got back home I pieced together the kit using mostly extra tools from a Dewalt kit I've had in the back of my cars for a while. I call it my "Oh Sh*t Kit" because its just for emergencies. I have a ratchet strap, zip ties, tape, gloves, a tire plug kit (not sure if it'll work or not) and other miscellaneous tools. I used this thread by Crom to gather specific hand tools. Super helpful and complete list. It's nice having the peace of mind that at least I'm mostly equipped in case something goes wrong.
