I'm happy as a clam with the 'stock' setup on my 2021.

OTT. Went with the lite/mild setup and am totally satisfied. Made a huge difference with gear hunting

I think any tune would be a night and day difference for you. It’s really just personal preference if you ask on here, but I have the Overland Tailor Tune and it’s great. Been running it for 3 years without any issues.

Before the OTT upgrade my rig would average 16 mpg at 75 mph without a trailer. Drove the same route pulling a trailer post OTT upgrade and got 17 mpg at the same speed.

Strange, I can sneak out 21+ MPG at 70 MPH. I think I've seen it as high as 26 MPG sweet spot was 72 MPH.
Pulling my teardrop I get about 16 MPG.

Again this is with the stock engine no tune.

I think for me the difference is keeping the RPM's low throughout the range.
    Just ease up to speed.

I should knock-wood that I don't know what this gear-hunting issue is all about.

2021 V6 4WD Access Cab bought new, has 25,500 miles on it.
    Wildpeaks ( 245 75 R16s ).
    No lift or anything special.

At this rate the damn thing will outlive me for sure.

Well the 265/75/16 tires I installed impacted fuel economy and overall drivability. Sure those 245s make a big difference.

I don't think they make a 'big' difference, but they sure feel good and if I get into rough spots it's nice to know I got em.
Pretty nice street manners as well. I put a set on my wife's Subaru and liked 'em so much I put a set on the Tacoma.
The stock Firestones were toast after a mere 15,000 miles ( rotated 3 times ). I got 10,000 on the Wildpeaks and they still
    look 100%.

I'm a big fan of tuning.

Especially for heavily and professionally modified vehicles like supercharged V8 muscle cars making 600+ RWHP. And where such a Mustang or Durango was pro-tuned on DynoJet chassis dyno. Custom tuned for *that* vehicle. Charger, Challenger, Camaro, Corvette, Durango, and other like owners are making HUGE numbers with a pro tune. On a DynoJet chassis dyno machine. Like at Palm Beach Dyno or Lethal Performance or BrenSpeed Motorsports.

Where that custom tune controls Air Fuel Ratio at Wide Open Throttle and more. So you don't run lean and go KABOOM with a connecting rod leaving the chat and a hole in your engine block on your local freeway on ramp.
    --------------
Here's my opinion on OTT tunes for an ordinary Tacoma. A 3.5L V6 engine.
    --------------
    * Look at the dyno chart curve, linked above. Ho hum. Meh. Yawn. 7-8 HP gain and ditto the same number for torque gain. Yeah, OK. Happy, happy, joy, joy. With virtually all of the curve gains occurring above 3500 RPM. Where very little of your daily driving occurs.

    * It is a "library" tune. Meaning you get the same tune as everybody else. OK, OK, OK, you might be able to select your tire size and gear ratio and what not. But it is still a generic library tune. Gear hunting may be reduced, but it will remain a mild issue IMHO. A shift controller will do the same thing.

If people wish to call an OTT tune "night and day" difference, well, so be it. Not worth the $$$ IMHO.

Best part about the tune is turning off the seatbelt chime and changing the blinker tap.

Someone told me the same thing, the tunes are nothing more than pushing the ECT button. Save yourself some cash.

OTT tune all day. I went with lite minus because throttle response off the line was never an issue for me. Worth every penny.

The tuning did absolute wonders for transmission hunting. It’s still a high revving v6, yes, but it won’t downshift when someone blows through a straw in your direction. It really does make the truck drive way better.

Nobody is mentioning OTT has free updates. I changed throttle response and got updated to the newest version at no cost.

Another vote for OTT. Just got it a couple months ago on my 2016 with 112,XXX at the time so a good baseline of the tacos usually habits. Was skeptical going in honestly but night and day. More predictable/snappy throttle response especially from a stop and way more pleasant to drive at HWY speeds.

I also was very skeptical. And I’ve got a manual so I knew I wasn’t going to fix any transmission issue that didn’t exist. But it is so much more drivable now it’s not even comparable. I had it on the medium setting which was too much. I dialed it back to mild and it’s perfect. Before the tune I was not able to accelerate up a modest mountain incline even in fourth gear pulling my teardrop. Now I can easily gain speed in 4th
