How can I make plastidip more durable?

    H.I.D 6000K, 5% tint all around, black on blacked out rims(sprayed stock rims), fog light mod, deckplate mod, plastidipped bumper and interior, self made eyelids, window visors, clear corners, Billet grille, trd grill emblem
    I plastidipped most of my interior (glovebox, center console, airbag compartment, sides of my seats) but it keeps coming off... should I spray them with more than two layers or will that not make a difference? I like plastidip but its starting to annoy me!

    I would think that the target surface would need to be roughed up so the PlastiDip has something which to adhere. :notsure:

    sandpaper. honestly if you know you like the look, you might as well paint it. It will be much more durable.

    Isn't the whole point of this plasti-dip phenomenon that this stuff ISN'T durable, and if you don't like how your wheels/grille/badges/dog/cat/mom look plasti-dipped you can just peel it off? :rolleyes:

    If anyone has ever sprayed Armor All on any of those pieces you're probably S.O.L. That shit penetrates into the surface and it's damn near impossible to make anything adhere too it. I had a 68 Chev pickup that I had painted once and after repainting the metal dash several times, they finally replaced it with a reproduction. PPG (paint company) said they had run into it before.

    I'm really not qualified to recommend anything. I know nothing about PlastiDip and have no experience in its application. It's just something that seems reasonable to me, as it is routinely practiced in many "painting" methods.

    I would use it if i'm unsure of how I would like the results, but then if I know I want something black, I'll use the proper technique to achieve the look I want


    I'm going to look into vinyl paint for my interior

    Yea but I suck at spraypainting lol... it always comes out uneven so I dont want to risk it

    You don't want to know...
    Plasit-dip should not be used on high wear items.

    It will stay on forever as long as its not rubbed. Interior parts usually dont fit that bill.

    Yeah I'm sure there is some type of preparation before applying it, well hopefully there is. Some people swear by plasti-dip but when I did my inner fogs, the drivers side starting coming off from high pressure car washes.:cool: So personally, I dont think its that durable as people say it is.
