Taco Exhaust

does anybody else have exhaust work done?? here is a pic of where mine comes out, just before the passenger-side rear wheel. it is the stainless tip, a 12" long glasspack tube and i removed the 2 rear catalytic converters and straight-piped it. basically my entire exhaust consists of two cats, a glasspack "muffler" haha and the tip...where can i put up a sound clip?? it sounds like a trophy truck and i really want to let everyone know what $100 can make the 4.0l V6 sound like

i might just put the sound clip on my myspace then and put the link up for it, i've never used photobucket before but we'll see how that goes. i originally had a 40 series 2 chamber flowmaster but it never sounded good to me, i drove with it for 500 miles which was plenty of break-in time on all of my other cars and it still sounded tinny and just not right. when i put up the sound clips i'll do one of it sitting still and a couple drive-by's also because it is deep under load, while it screams at the higher rpm's which i consider above 4k on this truck. sitting still and revving it still sounds cool too so i'll do a few of them, and on the highway this thing is like a constant near-deafening deep tone haha, which will get worse with the headers next spring i'm sure

hell ya! puts my master to shit. thats just great, now i have to spend more money.

 

i still like my flowmaster 40 a bit better......but for pure loudness(with a good tone), it definitely has the 40 beat. i may end up getting rid of the two rear cats and get 2 straight pipes welded in........it will make the exhaust a little deeper and louder.

 

I wish I could could do that but the cops here are pricks! I got pulled over literally 5 mins after puting a cold air intake on the wifes accord and was given a warning that it is illegal to modify my exhaust to make it louder. (I didn't argue that it wasn't the exhaust, just the intake but i didn't need another ticket!)

 

the stainless tip was $50, and other than removing the two rear cats and straightpiping them, the only thing i did was cut off the enitre stock exhaust right under the passenger seat and weld in the 12" glasspack tube, then bend the pipe so it sticks out the side. i used to work at the shop that i go to so i only pay for cost of materials plus 20 bucks for their troubles, so i only have $100 into the entire thing haha, but realisticly it would be about $160-$180 to just walk in and do the same thing. the o2 sensors are just before and after the first cats, so removing the rear two didnt cause any codes or the MIL/CEL to come on. i just cant wait for those headers next spring! i'm also thinking about trying a remote mounted turbo sometime after the y-pipe but before the glasspack tube but i have to do more research about it because i wont sacrifice reliability for five pounds of boost. also, headers WILL most certainly give the flowmasters a deeper tone

 

so either of you guys decide to try out my exhaust setup yet haha, i dont think it's too loud but i also owned a cobra with exhaust dumps and no cats, just 2 flowmasters and altho i couldnt hear myself talk on the highway, i didnt even think that was too loud...everybody tells me it's very noisy for a truck tho, and underneath an overpass or in tunnels it sounds demonic almost, but at least the front end matches the sound now haha
