Well im about to buy a tacoma (prob 06-08) just trying to figure out which one. I know i want 4x4 doublecab. I also know i like features from both the sport and off road trims. I like the sport hood and the long bed. But i also like the bilsteins and other off road options. Just wondering which trim is the smarter choice. I know it will see a lot of road miles but its gonna see some serious off roading throughout that. Ill also be hauling an ATV a lot. Is it possible to just buy one trim and add the features of the other trim except the bed length of course to get the truck i want. Also i plan on lifting the truck and putting bigger tires on it in the future, does that make one of the trims obsolete? Sorry if its been answered before im new here and ive searched this forum as well as TN, CT, and TTORA and havent really found my answer.

    Thanks, Bryan

sport has the Bilstien option as well. a TRD SPORT 4X4 man all the way.. you get the comfortable sport seats and the 4x4 option.

there are 13 trim levels for the Tacoma now.. you are bound to find a good one without having to change trim options...

And no if you get the 4x4 in any model, you will be set with mods to come!!!!!

um it depends, if you want the sport because of the scoop and all. get it.

but if you are really into offroading and stuff you cant go wrong with a TRD Offroad package.

You can either get a custom one made to look like the sport hood( $5,000 hood??) or you can get someone to trade with ya.

If you get the OR, then you would need to find a scooped hood...

If you get the Sport, then you could put in a locker...

getting a hood is cheaper I imagine...

I went with the sport for looks and I can add arb lockers later. I did not want the chrome of an O-R. With the sport the rear bumper, door handles, front grill surround are all painted. It would be totally up to you to decide which way is better for you. Does the O-R come with the JBL stereo? I like the stereo in my 09 sport, much better than non JBL of my 05 O-R.
