I have read a lot of posts with people wondering which lift to go with; 5100 bilsteins and Eibach coils, or 3" pro comp. I figured since I have had 2 tacoma's (which i have ran each lift on) i should give my overall opinion to help with peoples questions.

    05 access cab:
5100 bilstein adjustable struts set on 1.75", rear 5100 shocks, Eibach coils, toytec add-a-leaf, w/285/75/16 Mickey Thompson MTZ:

    05 Double Cab Long Bed:
3" Pro Comp coils, shocks, and add-a-leaf, w/285/70/17 BFG KM2:

    Pro's of Toytec Lift:
The toytec lift was a great looking lift. People noticed the stainless coils, and shocks. My favorite thing about this lift was how smooth that it rode. I have no complaints on how soft it took bumps, and it did great off-road, and allowed the suspension to flex as needed. Also, toytec customer service is PHENOMENAL lift was at my door in 6 days, and I am on the east coast.

    Con's of Toytec Lift:
The toytec lift was around $650.00 (granted, you get what you pay for). I wasnt impressed with the amount of lift that I achieved from this lift. I had the struts adjusted to 1.75" and eibach coils (give 1.6") so combined I had 3.35" of lift, and yet my 285 MTZ's rubbed even after trimming. The biggest complaint that I had about this lift was how my truck didnt sit level. My rear sat about an inch higher than the front and I wasnt impressed with that considering the quality of this lift.

Pro's of the 3" Pro Comp:
With the Pro Comp, I achieved about 3.5" of lift. My truck sits perfectly level. I have 285 BFG KM2 tires, which do not rub AT ALL, after I did the normal amount of trimming. The truck looks great because of the amount of lift i achieved. The lift is only $470.00.

Con's of the 3" Pro Comp:
This lift does ride a lot stiffer than my previous toytec set up. I did remove my sway bar (which helps a little) but it is still a lot stiffer. The biggest thing is that 4wheel parts is the main distributor for Pro Comp, and there customer service is terrible.

I thought it wasnt "safe" to run the 5100's at anything about .85 with the Eibach coils? Did you ever have any problems with them being on 1.75?

no, I had no problems at all. I owned the truck for 1.5 years, and had that lift on it for around 6 months before I sold it. I am still in touch with the kid that bought the truck, he did break one CV axle bc he was turning in 4wd on dry pavement which has nothing to do with the 1.75" setting.

sorry but the pro comp lift is a humongous piece of shit...

even if it was the best lift ever it is like the op stated being sold by the largest number of retards i have ever seen in one place at any single time. procomp's customer service absolute shit at best so it's impossible to come to them if there is a problem with anything regarding what they actually sold you.

i run this lift on my truck becuase i 1 did not know any better at the time and i thought it was a decent lift. turns out it was not even designed for my truck and i ended up with 4 3/4 inches of lift lol becuase of me and my relentless bashing of their shitty company they finally took notice and changed their vehicle configurator online.

o a side note as soon as i can afford to swap this turd of a suspension lift out from under my truck i'm absolutely getting a full arb kit ome is the most robust kit for the money imo toyotec is nice as well as the 5100's are but the ome double walled shocks and the ability to zero in on my spring rates is the main deciding factor.

yes, I was wanting to go OME but couldnt afford it. I dont think ill go 5100's again, because of the lack of lift it gives vs. what they state it gives. I had 3.35" of lift if you calculate the toytec numbers, but in actuality i may have gotten 2.5" and my rear was a lot higher than front.... which pisses me off

yes sir. i asked all the appropriate questions and they just assured me that everything was going to be ok lol.

when people say if 4wp's tells you something assume the complete opposite they aren't kidding lol really if they say something assume the complete opposite.

hahaha, agreed. I am not completely against bilstein but just the 5100/eibach combo. I do think in the near future i am going to remove the procomp coil/strut and do the toytec coilovers. my friend has them, they ride amazing

after being burned and learning a hard expensive lesson when it comes to changing the way your truck was designed to move down the road you pay for what you get. ion king and fox sway away and the top tier of ifs systems are not in my budget but, the 900 for the complete ome lift now would have saved me a lot of money lol plus they flex correctly and are designed to used and abused.

they produce a much better kit than many of the others but, with out the pretension and price tag of some of the others imo. if i had money like that i would go full icon just saying.

your truck looks awesome btw! ho much lift did you get with the procomp lift?

those spring rates are fucking crazy high 730 pounds to be exact thats what a full outfitted expedition rig would likely run. so we are talking full hd skids, plate bumpers front and rear plate a few hundred pounds of gear and sliders. shit i know guys who are fully armored with alot of weight that are running 700 pounds and they think they are stiff.

The procomp lift is going to ride very rough because the springs are quite stiff, and are paired with a twin-tube shock.

agree! the front coils are a lot stiffer, how ever it feels that the AAL isnt as stiff on this lift, however I may be wrong
