A friend of mine wants to sell me a Para Ordinance 1911 45 for $350. Its 3 years old and in good shape. I've shot several guns but never owned one before and know little about good brands and even less about prices. I'm just looking for something for home protection and some range shooting. Is this a good deal? Is the Para 1911 a good gun? any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Khris

Which type Para Ordinance is it? That is just my curiosity, it doesn't really mean much. If that gun is in like new shape, then you will be stealing it at that price. Buy it and don't look back. Will be just fine for what you are wanting.

Just about any 1911 for $350 is a steal. I wouldn't think twice.

Para Ordinance makes fine hand guns, I would shoot it first to be sure it's what you want. I have had several .45's, all Springfield's and have shot several Colts, so I have no personal experience with the Para's, I do know they are always reviewed favorably. I sold my .45's as they wore me out after an hour or so of shooting.
