I hate gas and their stupid market. I will volunteer my backyard to be a drilling site.

I agree. They never stopped me from doing what I want to do.

I'm glad you posted this. I like being proved correct.

Prices could go up real fast if the refineries go on strike. You can't just drill anywhere and find oil, I would think that most of the "easy" oil is long gone. What I don't understand is why in Canada we sell all of our crude to refineries in the US, and then buy all our gas back? Doesn't make much sense to me?

none except for crappy hub caps and floor mats.
I'd say we're actually lucky at this point because gas tends to inflate during recessions. I've noticed the price has been "sneaking" back up, 2-3 cents a week. It was around $2 a few weeks ago.Now its $2.25. I can't help but feel that prices are definitely manipulated at times like these slow enough to slip it under our noses.

^That's not a surprise in the least. Oil is a traded commodity, it's all about speculation.

Gas goes down during recessions, that's why we're at the price we're at now. It's a simple supply and demand issue. Prices have been "sneaking" back up because refineries often shut down temporarily for repairs this time of year.

BTW, gas locally went down $.10 overnight from yesterday. It is coming back down.

^It is going down. Went from $1.89 to $1.78 in the last two days and the two corner stations up the street. I just paid $1.94 for Super at Sunoco ($1.74 for Regular) tonight.

HOWEVER, once the inflation caused by the Socialist Takeover Act of 2009 that Obama signed today I am changing my opinion a bit and I do believe gas prices will rise quicker than I anticipated. The inflation that will absolutely occur will make everything rise in price.

well, for you nerdy type like me, here is a graph of crude prices and gas prices (times 30 to make the line kind of match up) since 2006. keep in mind, these are actual prices i have paid at the pump. from 2006 to mid 2008, i lived in the inland empire, rancho cucamonga to be exact. from mid 2008 to current, i live in west LA and get gas mainly in carson area. take it for what its worth...
