A little history, I bought the truck in February of 2009. It had 84k on it, a 3" spacer lift in front and nothing in the rear. She had an aries bull bar and some cooper discover ST's. I never planned on taking the truck to another level but slowly as times and funds came about, I had the opportunity to make this truck the functional rig she is today.​

take it to the limit !!!! we need pictures mang!!!! or didn't happen.

 

I've made a list of 4 things for 2012 that I have planned for my truck. You guys look and tell me what you think or if you have any eperiences with some of the products.

1. PowerTrax No-Slip locker- Now ordered and on its way -DONE
2. Safari Snorkel- Ordering on monday - DONE
3. Bud Built 4 piece combo skids- Decided to go with AllPro - DONE

 

This was a fun day. Truck pulled like a champ

 

12v to 120v power invertor. I mounted it to the back of th ecenter console and it worked out pretty good.



Pioneer DVD head unit. This thing is awesome and it improved the sound in the truck immensely . The cord that runs in under the ac controls and out the top of the dash is the cord for my garmin nuvi



Midland CB hardwired to battery. Probably one of the most useful investments i've made with the truck.

 

Now to add to the list is an All Pro IFS skid and the T-Case skid. I'll get pics up soon

 

Finally pulled the trigger on these, had to use a 1/4" spacer to keep them from hitting the UCA at full droop and shaved the plastic covering off the cab mount and all is well, no rubbing so far. Taking a 7 day trip to CO next week though so we'll put them through their paces and see how they turn out.

 

So the wife and I finally made our maiden voyage to the San Juan Mountains of Colorado, and all I can say is that we are planning our next trip already. I used Bakerlas trip report to help on planning ours, thanks! I also used the everytrail app on my iphone and the funtreks guide book. Also I might add that my recently purchased ST Maxx tires did awesome here, kept them at 18psi the whole trip and didn't slip a tire once.

Not alot of pictures of the drive there, lots of flat land in TX and NM, nor of the actual trails but the wife got some great pictures of scenery.

First day was Yankee Boy and Governor Basins, unfortunately there was a rockslide about halfway up Governor from the storm the day before that closed the trail. While we were at Yankee Boy we got to hike up over to one of the Blue Lakes. yankee boy was pretty easy going but very scenic.

The next day we did Imogene Pass, stopped in Telluride and ate at Brown Dog Pizza per Bakerla sugestion in his trip report, it was awesome food, then we looped up last dollar road and over to Ridgway then back down to Ouray. Out of everything we did, Imogene was by far my favorite trail.

Drove through a couple of snow drifts that had been plowed when going up to Imogene Pass.

We ended up having to cut a day off of our trip, but I was determined to do the Alpine loop so rather than split it in half like we had planned, we plowed through it in a day. Next time though we'll take more time.

We ran up Mineral Creek trail from 550 to Engineer Pass, didnt get a lot of pics, the trail wasn't terribly technical, other than a bunch of 3 point turns on the switchbacks, it was just bumpy as hell with the truck fully loaded down, I think I found justification for some allpro expo springs.

Engineer Pass, when we got to the top we met a little old Dutch man who was in CO on businees who had driver his rental Nissan Altima up to the top of Engineer Pass from Lake city. If you cant make your truck get to Engineer Pass from Lake City, then you should get a corner cut off your man card...possibly cut in half.

Cinnamon Pass, we didnt get alot of pictures on this trail cause of the rain and snow coming down on us. I will say that we had to assist an idiot who ran the front half of his ford expedition off of a ledge when coming down from Cinnamon pass, I didnt get any picture but I'll search around and see if the wife did.



Couple of pictures of Animas Forks, pretty cool place. Next time we come I would like to do California Gulch to Hurricane Pass and Corkscrew Gulch.

Quick question for you. When you bought the truck, did it have a CCA fish sticker on the driver-side window? Looks like there was one on your Colorado pics. I know this truck if it did.

 

This question has me intrigued....Subbed. Did he know the former owner? Does the truck have 5 kilos on cocaine hidden in the frame? Was he the former owner?....oh the possibilities

OP, in that picture of the over hang, could you drive under it or did you have to turn around? It looks really low in that photo. Also do you have any other sources on where to find these trails? I am doing a trip to Colorado in the summer and would love to check out a few of these.

As for that over hang it is actually higher than it look and you can drive right under it. That is still part of Camp Bird Mine Rd before you hit any real trail heads. The best 2 sources I used were EveryTrail (both the website and the Iphone App) and also Funtreks guide to Colorado backroads and trails (like $20 on Amazon). You can download the trails onto the app on your Iphone (or android) and be able to view them even without cell service, pretty awesome.
