Hi, my fiance has a 2010 Toyota Tacoma and has mentioned several times that he'd like a water weight for his truck bed to stabilize it (rather than use sand bags) but I have no idea what brand - what's good, what's bad, etc - or where to get one, or really what it is. The details he's give me is that it's some sort of a large plastic "bag" that lays down in the bed of the truck, you fill it with water to achieve a balanced weight.

I've googled everything I can think of, but I'm coming up short of answers, so I'm hoping that someone on here will have some sort of an idea of what I'm talking about.

Thank you so much in advance for your help.

Never heard of it. Sounds like it would slosh around causing problems, and have to be filled with antifreeze. He could use a frozen water weight (shovel snow into bed of truck untill full & refill when needed).

I'd have your fiance seriously reconsider. He'll end up with a giant block of ice in his bed that he won't be able to move it he ever does want it out. Also, one tear and it's toast (if he say puts a sharpened set of skis or a snowboard on it and it slices). A few tubes of sand for $3/ea and Home Depot is a much better option. They can be moved around the bed, removed if needed and you can use the sand if you ever do get stuck.

If he's stuck on the water weight, that one from autoanything is the only one I've seen.

    Welcome TW, Beth!

I work with a lady who has a ShurTrax in the bed of her Tacoma. She's happy with it but, like others have said, I see no real benefit over sand bags. (For the cost of a couple 2"x4" and some screws, I made a simple frame that keeps my sand bags right over the axle while preventing tears that can happen if they slide around.)
