Yeah it sounds like the installer just did a bad job. My 100XR basically has a foam sill seal (just like they use in construction) between the cap and the bed. It works great .. no problems. My cap did leak around the bottom corners of the back glass though, and the Tacoma tailgate has all sorts of gaps in it. So #1 I invested in a tailgate gasket (like this .. http://www.autoanything.com/hitch-bed-accessories/69A3562A0A0.aspx) and installed around the bottom and sides. And #2 I lengthened the ends of the bottom window seal by buying some 2" wide self adhesive velcro, cutting a couple 2" lengths or so (one for each side) and then folding it over itself and over the end of the seal, closing those small gaps. Plus the fuzziness of the velcro gets into the cracks, and does a great job of deflecting dust. Leer is a good company though. If there's defects in the shell, they'll fix them.

Well, just left Leonard. hopefully the modable seal they put on the front will fix that leak. The leak in the back is fixed, the wires were redone and they replaced the end cap on the rack for free since it fell off in 2 days. They were really nice about it so I went ahead and ordered my Bed RUg from them. Should be in early next week.

yup, they sure do. however, after time as the cap shifts and twist with the bed it starts to leak anyway. I bought the top of the line leer cap when i 1st got my truck, the one with the solid glass that tilts out, i forget the model...long story short, i sold it about 6 months ago. it leaked like a sieve in the front and never mind by the tail gate, got tired of messing with it and all my stuff back there getting wet. My dad has one on his silverado and not as bad but still leaks.

    Huh

The cap shouldn't shift independently from the bed if it is secured properly .

I hope it doesn't start to shift because that would mean the stock rails are moving around also as it is monted to those.

I wouldn't worry about the bed rails shifting

Well, Leonard really made up for themselves today. I ordered the Bed Rug this morning and they told me it would be next week before it came in. I got a call about 2 hours ago stating taht they had one in stock at the distribution center about 45 minutes from my house and since they had to make a delivery to the Winston store thy would bring it to my house. I just got home and there it was in the box on front of my garage door. Can't beat that for making up for an install mistake on the cap!
