I saw this guys set up:

I pretty much want mine the same with a 1.5" AAL's and LR UCA's, but I was wondering, would I get away with running 285/75/17's? right now i have 265/70/17 on the stock alloys, im getting my 7089's next week.

I don't think anyone makes a 285/75R17 tire. If they do, it's pretty rare.

285/75R16 is pretty common, and 285/70R17 is also reasonably common.

OK - with the question being concrete and not academic...

You're in for a lot of trimming to clear those, and a cab mount chop for sure.

And I hope your new 7089s have 0mm offset, if they're -12mm, it'll be even worse.

I haven't heard of 285/75/17's. However, I'm running 285/70/17's duratracs on the OEM tundra/sequoia 17's (they have 4.5" BS) with 5100's set @ 2.5 and the only rubbing I have is rubbing the UCA at full lock in reverse. I had to trim a little plastic and remove the mudflaps but that's it. I don't rub the cab mount even stuffed. It just clears it.

The Nittos come in 285 75 17. They are not R rated. I believe they are Q. I am going to run 285 75 17's nitto Terra Grapplers on a xd796 w/-12 OS BS 4.53. I have ext 2.5 Icon Coilovers in front + TC Uca's and Icons + All Pro 3" leafs in rear. Do you guys think I will have to cut the cab mounts etc...?
    thx

I'm running 285/70r17. I didn't cab-mount-chop until I changed UCAs to get more caster. Then I needed to.

You will trim and shape fender liner plastic no matter what.

I am running TC Uca's. I cancelled the order for the 275 75 17's and am ordering the 275 70 17's instead. I don't want to cut the Fender flare if at all possible.
BJ, When were you getting rubbing on the cab mount? Full lock, in reverse or just over bumps?

You shouldn't need to trim much of the fender flare. I just trimmed a small corner off in the front and a small corner in the back, then trimmed the black plastic fender liner.

Every truck ends up being a little different.

But after the UCAs it was close. At first it rubbed on any turn, but then I changed the alignment up; and then it was still too close for off roading, even though I couldn't make it rub on the street in normal driving.

I put 285/75/17 Terra Grapplers on the stock wheels and as stated in previous posts, they were rubbing just slightly on the UCAs with 3" coil spring spacers in front. Just changed the wheels to XD Series Addict - 17x9 4.5" BS and -12 OS. The tires are clear of the UCAs, but are now rubbing at the pinch weld and a little on the flares. Gotta get in there and do some cutting now. Not sure of the cab mount chop. I need to get a little more detail on that one.

a guy at work has 285/75's on a 3" OME lift. he had to do some trimming but they seem to work. he said he doesn't do any tough offroading though
