I just got a set of these TRD black wheels for my truck and I'm trying to get the rest of the parts for them.

I called my dealer to get quotes and their prices are so much higher than what I've been able to find on the interweb

Can you guys please help me confirm I'm ordering the right parts that I need. I have the steel OEM wheels so I need new lug nuts and TPMS sensors.

I believe the lug nut kit I need is part number PTR27-35100. The parts department at the dealer wants $182 for these but internet vendors have it in the $120-130 range.

Also, the dealer wants $107 for each TPMS sensor . I found this kit on ebay for $140 + $5 for shipping. Has anyone used these before?

If you guys have any good sources to purchase these online that would be helpful too.

Talk to discount, either turn each tpms 180 degrees or ask them to put tpms straps on the new 16s. Not necessary to buy new tpms, also discount will sell you new lug nuts for about $30.

I've got the Toyota install sheet for those wheels which has all the part #'s on it. I'm trying to figure out how to get it to you as we speak.

Here are the part #'s. I just picked up a 2nd set of lug nuts that works with these wheels... I would look at Toyota of Dallas, I got the lug nut set for ~$130 without shipping. I live in Dallas and can stop by there. If you use the one key'd lug nut on each wheel, which I'm guessing you will... DO NOT LOOSE THE KEY!!!!!!!!! Trust me, I am still trying to deal with all of that now.

    Thank you guys!

Geo Taco, thank you so much for that build sheet. That's pretty much confirmation on all the part numbers I was looking for. That price from the dealer in Dallas is inline with what I've seen on the internet. I don't know what the heck is up with the dealer by me and those jacked up prices.

    Thanks again!

Toyota of Dallas usually has pretty good prices for TRD items. I don't think most dealers actually deal in TRD parts unless there is a specific request. Toyota of Dallas' website is www.trdparts4u.com so they are an active aftermarket parts vendor. If you find what you need, I would call them to make sure they either have the parts in stock or can get them quickly. I ran into an issue with ordering online and then got the message that it would be 3 weeks before the part was in for me to pick up.

    nothing cool
just came across this thread only because i saw a pic of the TX wheels, same as mine. i just wanted to comment that i've used www.trdparts4u.com also, and they rock. great shipping (mine was free), and excellent customer service.

this doesn't answer your question, but trdparts4u sure can

So now I'm trying to decide which tires to go with. I've seen a few positive posts on here about both of the tires below and they look like a nice alternative to the BFG's.

I was also thinking of going with a slightly larger size, 265/75R16, instead of the 265/70R16 BF Goodrich Rugged Trail that originally comes with these TRD wheels on the TX Pro Tacoma. My only concern with this is that for now my spare will be the stock steel wheel and that has a 245/75R16 on it.

Hankook DynaPro ATM RF10 or Yokohama Geolandar A/T-S

    [IMG] [IMG]

What do you guys think about the choice of tires and the size difference with the spare?

If you really don't want the BFGs, get the hankooks. I've read a lot of good reviews about them. If you want a better performing tire I did a search on tire crawler, the dura tracks are 178, BFGs are 180.

I just put a new set of 265/75/16 Cooper Discoverer ATP's on yesterday. I really like them. They seem very close to the Hankook's but are a hair cheaper at Discount Tire. I have heard rumors that the ATP's are a Discount Tire only deal, made by Cooper just for them.

Those look great and that is a really good price too. I also see you went with the 265/75's instead of the 265/70's that came originally on your wheels. Not fit issues there right?

How do they ride on the highway, any difference in noise level?

No fit issues, you can fit a 265/75/16 stock. I happen to have OME suspension on all 4 corners giving me ~2.5" lift. I actually haven't had them on the highway yet. I will say that at 45 they are louder than the rugged fails.

Just pulled the trigger on the Hankook DynaPro ATM RF10.

I've been driving myself nuts comparing and reading reviews of all the options out there. My wife even commented yesterday "you've been looking at pictures of tires for the last two days." I better run out and get some chocolates now

Every review I found on the Hankooks, here and other sites, was very positive. Got them from DiscountTireDirect.com.

Thank you all again for all your help so far.

I should have my TPMS sensors by today so hopefully I can get my new shoes on by the weekend :)

Here is a shot of the Hankooks
    [IMG]

I was trying to decide on whether I want the white lettering in or out and I'm heavily leaning towards in now after doing a little Photchopping with this pic I found on the net (not the color of my truck, mine is silver).

Did you use the TRD lug nuts and lock? I have the same wheels and was wondering where and how much did you pay for the lug nuts.

I did. I got my set from eBay shipped for $133. My local dealer wanted $183 - here is the link

There are a couple of other places out there like this one or this one if you don't want to go the eBay route. Some of these are even slightly cheaper than ebay but I wasn't sure whether they had it in stock or not.

I think the 12 mm TRD lug nuts made by McGard are the only ones that will fit with these wheels. As far as the key goes, one way to get around using it is to purchase 4 individual splined lug nuts from McGard and just use the splined ones. I actually own two complete TRD lug nut sets (long story) and two splined lug nut tools, one to keep in the truck and one for the garage. The holes in the wheel are very narrow, if you look at the tools they are just like thin-walled deep sockets, most other toyota lug nuts have much larger holes and use larger lug nut tools.
