My frame has to be replaced. I'm actually looking forward to it. I've heard that they replace a lot of the parts underneath, like gas lines, brake lines, bushings, etc. Not too bad.

Im going to need an exhaust soon, as I have a hole in my muffler. I was planning on asking them to swap a new one in, since I wont be charged for labor while they are dissassembling/reassembling the whole truck anyway. Think I'll get screwed by the dealers price for a new exhaust?

    UH...YES!

Why not just buy a Magnaflow muffler and take it to a muffler shop and have it welded in??

I would think you still come out ahead in the long run over the dealer price on a muffler, even if it is free labor.

I just purchased a MagnaFlow muffler right at the shop, had him cut out the old one, custom bend some piping to tuck it up high as possible and asked him to weld a tip on that I already had and he charged me $170 and it took him 20-30 min. Just a reference point before the dealer tries to tell you that'll cost $250 for labor or something

Good to know. Do MagnaFlow and Borla make OEM style mufflers? I'm really not looking for any additional noise or anything

Check out Rock Auto or try to find a pick-n-pull scrap yard near you and pull one out of another Tacoma. Rock Auto sells OEM replacement parts and they are a vendor on TW. Most of the aftermarket ones will make some extra noise. I can't imagine a new exhaust from Toyota will be under $500. I could be wrong but I wouldn't plan on it being cheap directly from the stealership.

Muffler shops can also get you a "stock" muffler and put it on. They don't just do aftermarket stuff. The shop I use has a pile of factory exhaust systems they save, lots of guys with brand new trucks want aftermarket systems so they save what they pull off. (at some shops)
