    Howdy howdy.

For sale is my beautiful Flip-Pac camper shell. I bought this camper new from the factory in January 2010, but I’m not doing so much camping anymore, and it’s time to change to a more traditional shell.

Flip-Pacs are a great compromise between a standard shell and a full slide-in camper— you’ll get better gas mileage than with a slide-in, maintain full use of the bed, but still have standing head room and a double bed at night! I’m a carpenter, and it’s been an ideal rig for me—my tools live inside during the week, but come right out for weekend trips to Joshua Tree.

This particular Flip Pac was professionally painted with Toyota Super White II (the 2009 Tacoma white—color code 040)—no yellowing or other typical gel coat problems! I also purchased the optional heavy-duty storm fly, which fits easily over the whole top tent and protects the camper from durn near any rain or snow. And finally, I made blackout curtains for all four windows. They Velcro on, and fit perfectly—from outside, it looks like a heavy tint.

Altogether, I have more than $5000 in this camper. I’m asking $2500 for it, and I’m willing to consider a trade for a nice standard shell (must be painted Toyota White). and I’m happy to answer questions, and show the camper to any seriously interested folks. I’m available most days in South Pasadena, California

    Ben,

Looks like a great deal for whoever picks it up from you but I gotta ask about those curtains. When you get a chance could you provide us with some details on them as we have a FlipPac here and household 6 is already demanding some sort of tint or curtain arrangement. Thanks in advance and good luck on the sale.

CRAP! Why so far away. Feel like meeting in Kelowna, BC, Canada? :D

If I were closer I'd be guaranteed taking that off your hands.

Not actually such a crazy thought. I have a contract up in the Seattle area in Mid-May, and I'm planning to drive up. If I haven't sold it by then, we could meet there.
    Cheers

I actually live in dawson creek 14 hours north of kelowna, but I'll be there in a couple weeks, but I'd def consider a road trip to seattle for this.

I really want it but rather than hoard it to myself, if you posted it on expeditionportal I bet it sells in a couple days, especially at that price.

    Howdy all,
In response to interest, here are a couple more shots of the interior and the curtains. I'm a boat builder, and the cabinets are my attempt to provide some boat-y storage space. They aren't anything fancy-- knocked 'em up out of 1/2 plywood over a weekend. But they are strong. They bolt into the Tacoma's rail system, and should come out pretty easily. I'll include them for $150 extra.

As for the curtains? They are made of heavy black fabric and roll Velcro I picked up at Jo-Anns. The loop side of the velcro is sewn into the fabric, and the hook side is glued to the aluminum window frames. The crux-y bit is warming the window frames and and velcro before attempting to attach. If you don't it won't stick. Mine have been going strong for 2 years, and only recently have a couple started to come loose.

Your woodwork looks great. Perfect fit to the bed. Mine is quite different but works well for me. For my curtains I just got a cheap curtain rod from wallyworld and put it up. They aren't that strong but don't fall often.

I'm curious about how you hooked up the light. I still haven't hooked mine up. FRP doesn't do it which is a shame.

Hooking up the light was pretty fun, actually. I ran a wire (with an in-line fuse!! this is essential- put it as close to the battery as you can.) from the accessory post on the positive battery terminal through the wire conduit in the engine fire wall that leads to the driver footwell. From there, under the door sill trim piece to to a little gasket-ed port that leads out underneath the cab. This sounds more difficult than it actually is-- really just popping out a but of plastic pieces and then popping them back in.

Anyway, once underneath the truck, I ran the wire along the frame rail, using zip ties to secure it, until I reached one of the little storage cubbies in the bed. Up through a convenient hole in the cubby, and then a spade connector to the wire they supplied. The ground wire I secured to a pre-existing screw in the frame.
