I own a number of Surefire products. I have to say, although pricey, very well made.

    Thanks for the compliments guys.

Bought the light off Amazon.ca for $95-.

I fooled around with several mounting locations, but was most satisfied with this one.

I took the console apart and pulled it out of the truck to mount it, I didn't have to, but thought it would be easier. I just used a pick to pierce two pilot holes in the plastic of the console, then used the tapping screws that came with the light to fasten it. You could also use machine screws with a nut as you are able get you hand up into the backside of the console.

As for power, I just used 12V off an Add-A-Circuit and ran the wires under the dash and up into the console using one of the pre-existing holes in the bottom of the console.

As for the $95, to me, I just wanted to treat myself to it, nothing more than that. I work nights every other week, and thought I should have a good light in the truck for emergency purposes. It turned out to be a real good conversation piece, and all round just a cool toy.

Yeah, they do make AA lithiums that are supposed to have that kind of shelf life. I just check the alkaline batteries on a regular basis. But flashlights are kind of a hobby for me, most people never look and end up with leaking batteries by the time they need the light.

There are also the 123 lithium batteries that most Surefire, Streamlight, etc use. Expensive, but not an issue if it's not used often.

it wasn't parking...I was camping at Leo Carrillo and rode my motorcycle up to the front office to pay and tell them which site....some surfer looking park police jacked me up over not wearing my lid...yeah, I fucked up, wasn't aware nor thinking after an 800 mile day....he didn't have to be a dick about it.

    sorry for the hijack.

As RedFox mentioned, Maglights can serve a very good secondary function, "A Legal Billy Club" that can be carried at all times. I have gotten several girlfriends a 3 or 4 cell Maglight for that very purpose.

My dad just completed this install in his 2012. I'll post pics as soon as he gets them all to me, but he says he's extremely happy.

Ever try a Mag Rechargeable? The halogen is 200 lumens. Mod away and you can push 3-4 times that. It is a big boy though, which has benefits. Anwyay, sorry - off topic.

    Nice mount job, OP.

Nope, but I'm sure they work pretty well given the lumens rating. Everyone seems to think the D cell maglites are what cops carry. If they are carrying a mag, they either have the rechargeables or they have inadequate equipment for their task.
