Just a thought , but if you put it under the truck somewhere that's tough to see from standing level, keep in mind that it may be at a shop on a lift. If that's the case someone may see it,look at the repair order and at the very least be able to get inside your truck.

well, you are lucky, you dont need your key/key chain

I live on a college campus and with my stereo didn't feel safe leaving my truck out in the residents parking lot. So I put an alarm system in it. I can't unlock it without using the remote or it will set the alarm off.

I have a second gen, but my Idea may work still.

I believe that you can get one of the number pads to unlock your car put into your door. I think that I can get one compatible with my alarm system which is the only reason I thought of that.

my second thought would be a rare earth or neomidium magnet, or a piece of adhexive velcro, wire, etc....

the ,magnets are strong enough that they will hold on through the offroading (they aren't cheap unfortunately though)

Trouble is it wouldn't take long for someone to find a stashed key underneth...especially with the amount of room underneth our trucks and the number of low life scum bags getting underneth Toyotas to rip off the cats. I've helped numerous people find their spare keys on their vehicals when they forgot where they hid them....usually can find it in less than 5 minutes. If i did lose the credit card key (would have to lose my wallet too which hasn't happened in 40 years of driving) i'd just bust a window out if i was out in the middle of nowhere.

Why don't you like magnetic boxes? I've had them on different cars for years and never had an issue. I have on on my front bumper now and it has not moved an inch.

Don't know why you're wary of magnetic box

    I've got this one
    http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl...KDT6TmHonm9ATEpuHTCA&ved=0CJwBEPUBMAc&dur=340

somewhere under my truck on a body panel with a spare door and gas cap key. rocks mud deep ruts with the truck jumping around it doesn't even shift positions, really I have a rectangle that is the purest white spot under my truck

original owner put it on and the guy who had it before me didn't even know apparently (I left with the key after my first test drive and had to overnight them back to him because he couldn't move the truck) found it while I was inspecting everything the second time.
