Very true. Not knocking anyone's choice. It's all preference.

Just speaking from my own experience, though. Everyone's mileage may vary. I just have not found any real difference in long-term durabiltiy from one brand to the other and have always enjoy waxing my vehicles. Liquid waxes come off quicker than paste, but within a class of wax, I think a lot of the differences just boil down to good marketing and how the product is packaged. The article I was reading said waxes packaged in gloss black boxes or containers usually are the best-sellers.

On the test, some of the more popular polishers and detailers got really poor marks for swirling or scratching--particularly the relatively expensive Turtle Wax Liquid Ice. I also found this to be true and stopped using it. It did leave a nice shine, but also tons of swirl marks.

I use the garden variety turtle paste wax and like the Macquire's quick detail spray for in-between waxes and general touchups after a wash.

    Easy wins with me:

    1. Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax
    2. Duragloss Aquawax
    3. CSI Q-7 Wax (which we sell).

Wipe on, wipe off, no staining. Do your whole truck in 15 minutes.

    Cheers

I like it a lot, it works very well

I looked that up......:eek:and that isn't even their really expensive stuff.....holy crap

I started out with the same wax, I always had trouble with application. I agree that spending a lot on waxes won't make too much difference, but I have seen a BIG difference in ease of application, which is why I use the wax that I do.

but the turtle wax and the meguires wax work basically the same with a 15$ difference.

Man, I really need to wax my truck, but I am at college and don't have time.....or a place to do it

    crap

True, and if it is the same article I remember, Nu Finish was the top rated brand out the ones they tested.

I have tried almost every was on the market and I like DPMax from
Auto Geek.net. It is very easy to use, the results are tops and one container will do my truck 15 or more times.

I have been using the NXT for a while now and it does a good job. I might try out the NuFinish just for fun.

For anyone that is interested. Here are the Consumer Reports ratings.

    Head unit. That's it.
I use, and have used the clay bar kit from Maguires, and the Gold Class as well for years on multiple colors of vehicles. Obviously the dumb black ford ranger I had showed results the best, and these seemed to make the paint look "deeper" and definitely darker. Washed that poor truck 3-4 times a week and waxed it twice a month. Just my 0.02.

Interesting ratings... The fact that 3 Meguiars products make up the top 5 for liquid / gel waxes is part of the reason I use their products (the one I use isn't on the list, so I don't know if it was tested). I just see them as putting out a very high quality product.

I would advise against the NuFinish liquid wax... Maybe I just had a bad experience with it, but it was horrible on my 08 Black Sand Pearl Tacoma. But again, your mileage may vary...

I'm curious as to why they didn't do spray waxes...

Never had any problem at all with Nu Finish. But black or dark is extremely difficult to maintain here in the southeast due to the sun. Most black vehicles you see around here need repainting within 4 or 5 years max, unless they stay garaged most of the time.

I will also say the Mequires Cleaner is a very good product. I use it to get off all the stubborn spots like road tar or occasional "paint swaps" from other cars' bumpers and it works like a champ.

I've been using Turtle cleaner/wax, tried mothers and meguiars but when I tried the Turtle I started to get comments every time

The last Tacoma I had was white and I always used the meguiars 3 step, when I traded it in at 200some thousand miles, the appraiser said aesthetically it was a 10!

Bout time with this truck to throw a 3 step on it, trail scratches on a blue truck
