    Hey guys,

I'm new to the forum and joined because I'm considering a Tacoma and have a few questions about them.

First of all, my major stipulation when buying a truck is that I need to be able to tow my boat. I figure my boat+trailer weighs in at around 5000 lbs. How many on here are towing boats or similarly weighted rigs? And, how does the Tacoma handle it? I would be looking at the V6 TRD I believe. Anyone towing long distances, how does the engine, tranny, etc hold up over long distances?

Also, what kind of gas mileage could I expect?

Thanks for any help guys, I appreciate it.

Welcome to TW. You'll find some info on towing here. And for what you can't find the search tab works well.

Thank you for the kind welcomes, and for the awesome information on that page.

What I was kind of looking for are opinions on the Tacomas versus a full-size truck. I know the Tacoma will pull my boat, but I'm more worried about the long hauls. I'm planning on doing at least three trips this year that are 5 hours one way. I don't want to purchase a truck that is going to get beat to shreds by trips like that and have things go wrong with it.

Basically, I would like to spend less money and get a Tacoma. However, if it's not going to hold up with a lot of heavy towing miles, I'll look into a Tundra or an F-150.
