I know it's been answered a hundred times before. The largest tires that you can fit on stock suspension are 265/75 R 16 or 265/70 R 17. But today I saw a 2nd gen tacoma with 285s on what appeared to be stock suspension. It definitely looked like a tight fit, especially in the front.

I was wondering how bad is this guy rubbing. Would it be constantly, or just when turning, or what?

The reason I ask is because I have a 3" lift with 285/75 R16 tires. It's a crappy spacer lift, that I want to get rid of. Originally I was going to replace the lift with some quality adjustable coil overs, and new leaf pack. However, money's tight, so I'm going to go back to stock suspension. I was thinking that I need to wait till I get some smaller tires (265/75 R16) before I removed the lift, but after I saw the other truck today, I'm not sure. I still have another few months left on my current tires. Should I wait to take off my lift?

That's what I thought. I've been on the forum for a while and thought I was pretty well versed in tire sizes, lifts, etc. Every time i see another tacoma that's not stock, I go over and check it out. I was just really surprised to see that truck today, and thinking he knew something I didn't

I would thing your going to rub like hell with it set at stock. Why not replace it slowly like front first, then the rear when you can afford it? What your going to pay for tires would get some of your lift paid for.

What have you cut so far to get your tires to fit? What is the actual height and width of the tires you want?
