Used 30lb line to take mine off. DID NOT use putty knife on remaining tape. The tape
came off with fingernail pretty easy. Used wax after. Can't even tell they were ever
there. If warm enough outside, no hair dryer required.[IMG]

I used 15lb. braided line without a hair dryer in 65* weather and got them all off in just a few minutes with a sawing motion. Just used my fingers to peel away the left over tape.

    Just got it done :)
Looks good. Gonna go pick some wax up tomorrow and finish it off. Goo Gone got quite a bit. I'd like to wax the ghost out.

nope, works like a charm. it will take water spots off too. you still might want to use a little wax after using it though...:)

Yeah, wax. Lots of ghost emblems, plus it needs another wash.
It was windy today, and you know those dusty Tucson streets.

I did not need to use a hair dryer at all. I used 6 pound test line as I was so scared of damaging the paint. The bad part about using 6 pound test is that it breaks easily. I was able to debadge my truck in about an hour and a half. The truck is an 09 so the badging was new. I scraped the residue off with my finger and used goo gone to remove the last of it and it came out great. Now I just need to get new license plate holders.

Yeah new glue was probably nice.
I've got one of the older ones. BE CAREFUL when doing this. Some of the harder glue refused to come clean. I've got some touch up painting to do on the driver door

I hope you guys don't think this is too anal, but I have a brand new truck and want to make sure I know what I'm doing before I proceed. I want to remove the TRD Sport decal from the rear quarter panel of my truck. That's Debadgination, Right?

So I heat it up a bit with a heat gun (no hair dryer available) and then try to work some fishing line under the edge? Once under the edge do I continue to work it with the fishing line or do I grab it and pull it off by hand?

My main concern, as is probably everyones, is not to damage the paint with the heat or any removal tools. Would a halogen work light on the area for a minute or two be more gentle than a heat gun?

we were talking about the emblems, like that ones that say tacoma or sr5 or toyota etc. If i was going to remove my trd sticker off the bed i would just heat it up and give it a pull. Probably will need to use some wd-40 to get the adhesive off. good luck

I just got a fingernail under it and pryed it up. Then used goo gone to get any excess. Then I washed and waxed it. If your gonna just pry it up with a fingernail I suggest waitin till you need to cut them so you have some leverage.

ok, once I get the emblems off, I'd like to paint them black. Does anyone have a suggestion of a brand name tape(or glue) to re-apply them after painting?

... and I bought the 3M tape at Advantage Auto near me for $5.99... it was a smaller roll than the eBay auction, but it will be plenty...

Another tip is to paint the badges on wax paper rather than newspaper so they don't stick when the paint dried...
