I have an extra set of the oem D rings (with backing plates) anyone see an issue if I mounte these in the middle front of the bed to hol my dirtbikes??? I have a 2012 so there are already mounting points on the outside. Injust wand two in the middle so it can be easier to strap two bikes down and the occasional 3 bikes. Basically wondering if the bed can handle the added stress..

    In my sig
Best bet would be to use the bed bolts. That would be the strongest mounting point.

Yea it definately would, I used those in my 05 I had, but I want them in the middle of me bed so I don't have to run straps through spokes. Gets tricky with 3 bikes... I basically want 4 mounting points up front so each strap on the bikes have their own D ring

Look into a product called a bed buddy.

If you want D-rings on the floor, just use a through bolt and a large plate washer on the underside of the bed. I reemed out the 2 outter drain holes in the front of the bed and put D-rings there with plate washers. You could do the same using the middle drain hole.

This^^^, if you get a big enough plate under them I would think the bed would hold up nicely. Be sure to check your spacing so you don't get one close to the fuel tank, it gets tricky around there, I had a heck of a time fastening down my toolbox.

I added some D-rings using the bed bolts in the center of the bed. Follow the procedure in this thread: Installed D-Rings in the Bed (Pics)

Recently a member discovered that Dodge D-rings can be used in lieu of the Toyota ones and are actually a little beefier. I installed two of the Dodge ones and they are bomber See Bobb's quoted post below of info on those.

I put an additional d ring in the front center of the bed. Just enlarged the existing drain hole. Works great with my y strap to hold down my spare.

Both of these locations are easily accessed from the backside of the bed, making for easy installation.

Awesome thanks for all the help guys... I'll make sure to watch for the tank, and make sure the backing plate is large enough. Also cgonna look into the dodge D rings. Thanks a lot I'll probably do this today or tomorrow

I would use the bed bolts too since you have a '12 with the new mounting points up front.

[IMG]I just got the OEM ones too and they're having me install them where the new D-rings are on the '12's. But I'm thinking of putting them on top of the wheel well like M202Flash, but more to the front, out of the 2x6 lowered part. Is the bed thinner there? The backing plates look good.[IMG][/IMG]
