I'd start working on a game plan; this isn't much of an economy for "what I can find" work.

Just remember that the job does not define who you are. I know a couple doctors that have full sleeve tattoos. They are pretty cool guys once you realize they aren't normal doctors.

    1) What all have you tried for work?

    2) Anything that interests you?

    3) Go ahead an realize that farm/ag work is rewarding but you'll never get rich off of it.

    Stickers. Lots of stickers.
And don't do what you do for the money. Don't get stuck doing a job you hate just because it pays the bills.

I second the do the work that you want to do, regardless of the money. Waking up everyday wanting to go to work is very gratifying.

Added extra awesomeness to its original awesomeness.

I agree and disagree with these above.

The agree: I turned down a lot of money and living with Keith to keep my current job, the pays me with Trident Layers, but I love it and love my life, only thing I would change is maybe more money. Even then I didn't want to give up what I had for nearly triple of what I currently make.

The disagree: While I still believe you have to be happy with what you do in life, I've always told anyone who asks, I don't need money to be happy, but unfortunately I need money to do the things that make me happy in life.

Take that tongue in cheek, and there has to be a balance. For instance, if I were good enough to be a professional boater of sorts, whether sailing, wake boarding, fishing, etc. I would truly be doing what makes me happy. However I was not talented enough in any of those areas, but I still love to do them so I have to be able to make enough money to support my hobbies (which aren't cheap). 99% of people never find the one thing that makes them the happiest and get paid for it, so there has to be a give and take between a job and doing what you love. Even most of our pilots who love flying would rather be doing other things a still fly to support their rather extravagant hobbies.

I'm guilty of that. but there also is hardly any jobs around here that pay decent for someone that doesn't have a CDL, or some nursing cert, or some kind of degree.
Kind of hard to leave this place since they try to do quarterly bonuses + Christmas bonus, provide health insurance which they pay 90%, and match up to 3% on the simpleIRA.
Have some good days and bad, but just blow it off at 5pm.

I get my 40+ and put a portion away to go back to school, still have about 30-40hrs left to get a degree in Computer Science, but I got burned out on that, probably going to change to a database or criminal justice degree.

Thanks for all the advice guys. Its kinda the same reason I'm holding off on college. I don't want to waste time on classes or a degree that I don't need. Id rather figure out what I want to do then work towards it.

It is indeed a balance. There are certainly things that I would rather do than this job, like be a mechanic, or work at a brewery, but I make probably 3-4 times what those jobs do, and still enjoy the work. I consider myself fortunate.

However if win the lottery I'm going to quit my job and work at a microbrewery
