Can't tell if you are just trolling since you haven't posted any info about what you are driving.

Do you have a '95.5 to 2000 model Tacoma? Does it have a 4hi button?

I am curious. I know you have twin sticks now, did your truck originally have a push button? I'm guessing it didn't.

I worded my question to Archer that way on purpose. I am pretty sure that the 4hi button wasn't available prior to the '01s.

    I have a quick question,
If you guys have your engine off, and you shift from 2 hi to 4 hi, can you hear a little electronic motor from the transfer case?
A friend of mine has an 04 and his has a little motor or something, but I dont hear a motor with mine. And yes my 4wd works lol

Because he has an electronic actuator on the back of his transfer case.
    You don't, obviously.

Ok, So they updated the transfer case after my year? Or is it because he has a 4 cyl?

I can't recall what year they came out with the push button.
However, I believe both 4-cylinder and the V6 came with push button.
It's just an option but I'm sure its more common on the V6 fully optioned trucks compared to the 4-cylinder.
If you look at the poll results you'll see that push button and j-shift were both options over the years. It was one of those features that was phased in as the American public got lazier.

The mirrors were just an add on to my regular cab. I HATED having to adjust the manual mirrors after every trail run.
And, actually, they aren't functioning at the moment. The drivers side e-mirror was killed when I put the truck on its side. Still patiently waiting for another set to come on the market.

2004 DC with the electronic version unfortunately. Manual t-case swap is on my list of future modifications though!

99.9% sure all the 4WD Tacomas made from 1995.5 to 2000 had manual t-cases, there was no other option.

This is a great forum and found this post very helpful, I am new to Tacoma World and looking for a 1st Gen Double Cab 4x4 with all manual for the reliability and so that I can two it behind my RV as a TOAD. Per Remco, sounds like if I go later than 2004 than I will need to make disconnect modifications to be able to tow it 4 wheels down. Does that sound right to those with experience?

It I understand it right, there are those with a fully mechanical transfer case (i.e. one lever plus shifter but no button) or an electronic transfer case (button for 4WD but lever for Hi/Lo). Later models went to fully electronic transfer case. I am asking to confirm, not starting this as info for others to use. I've started looking but most sellers that I talk to can't explain what they have, causing me to drive to cars that aren't what I want.

Does anyone have pictures of the various transfer case options? Looks like the modification to add two levers, one for 4WD and the other for Hi-L, is an aftermarket modification that is pretty easy to do. Can this done to 1st gens that have a button for 4WD without changing the transfer case?

Thanks for bearing with a newbie!

OK, so looking at this further it looks like the 1st Gen Double Cabs were all supplied with an OEM automatic transmission so despite Remco saying this is a valid TOAD option it doesn't exist except as a unicorn. There are posts about a few people converting their DC's to manual transmissions but sounds like a rear disconnect with front manual hubs is a practical requirement. Are there any posts you are aware of for folks making these mods to a 1st Gen?
