Photoshop Tutorials?

Is there a good place to kinda learn what you photoshop guys do? Putting pics on pics & such? I just loaded an old copy of PS I had (CS2 v9.0) and wanting to learn a little bit.

Look up phong photoshop tutorials. That's what a buddy of mine used.

 

to be honest. i learned by hours of experimentation. but you can always youtube it :]

 

Theres millions of tutorials online, just google it. You can teach yourself within a reasonable amount of time.

Its all photography people. There is a link on the top left that says tutorials...

Its everyday ppl like me and you explaining how to do photoshop stuff...I learned a lot from that site...If you can figure out how to navigate around...

 

You tube has some good ones i used a couple on there teaches you how to make sigs and what not

 

The best thing to do is have a project to work on. There are always people asking for photoshops for their trucks on the Photoshop thread. Pick something that someone has asked for, even if it's been done. It gives you a target to shoot toward. Once you do it, it'll be easy to repeat it. For example, someone wants the color of a truck changed. So you search on Google for "photoshop change color".

The biggest bang for the buck is understanding the concept of layers. Once you understand that, the rest is just learning what the tools do and how to apply effects. I explained it in the Photoshop thread here. There are many ways to accomplish the same effects.

Some tools that I use alot are the Clone tool, the Blur tool, the Smudge tool and the Polygon Lasso tool. So for example, for a lift, I use the lasso tool to outline the body of a truck. Once I highlight it, I'll cut it to it's own layer so that it's independent of the background. In that layer, I'll move it up to give the appearance of a lift. Then I use the clone tool in the original layer to fill in the details that aren't visible when you lift the body (plants, grass, pavement, etc). The advantage of cutting the body to a new layer is that when I'm cloning on the original layer, I don't have to worry about coloring over the body of the truck.

For blacking out wheels, I create a new layer and paint over the wheel (in the new layer). Then I set the opacity of the layer to a value less than 100 (100 means you can't see through it, 0 means it's totally transparent) until I can see some wheel detail.
