Hi I just joined. I have been wanting to get a Tacoma for a while. The time is near.

I will use the Tacoma as a fowl weather daily driver when it is not so safe to ride my motorcycle. Tacoma drivers aside cagers get crazy when the roads get wet.

I'll also haul my dirt bike because there is nowhere to ride in Silicon Valley.

I like both first and second generation. I like the extra space of the access cab to keep gear inside. I'd like decent mileage so a 4 cylinder 5 speed should do.

I know there is infinite wisdom and opinions here, I hope to learn what I can and eventually make some useful contributions.

Seems like you've got a good head for what you need. I'd go second gen, but I'm biased. Double cab long bed will give you the most space of any of them. That's what I've got, not sure if they make that configuration in a 4 banger though.

    Thanks for the input.
I'll be looking for the 6 foot bed so I can load two dirt bikes straight in. Don't trust hanging the rear wheel on the tail gate.
Don't really need the double cab because we can use the Highlander for hauling people.
Thanks for the invite for the gathering this weekend I'll have to pass this year. Spare time is pretty limited, need to repair a couple motorcycles and get my Passat ready for sale and find a Tacoma.

I believe Toyota started making the 4cyl DC in 2012.
