I have no problem understanding the electrics of this simple install, but in another area I am incredibly inept and stupid. My problem: How do I get the kick panel off to locate that tucked away female plug?

Pull upward on the black footrest for your left foot, it will unclip and expose a black plastic thumb nut. Unscrew the nut, remove the lower door sill trim by pulling firmly upward, the pull the left kick panel rearward. Assemble in reverse order, and be sure to line up the tabs and clips.:)

I know you weren't really asking me, but I mounted mine directly below the column on the lower plastic panel. Having longer legs meant reduced options unless I wanted to hit it with my knee, which I really didn't. The display is hidden from view by the steering wheel normally, but I'm OK with that. I was very happy with my chosen location until I had the spiral cable recall done last month, which was when I found out that it interferes with the lever for the tilt/tele column as it drops down a long way to release. Not a big deal for me since it can be persuaded out of the way, and the fact that I leave my column where it is, but a heads up for anyone mounting their controller to be aware of that fact.

I haven't yet, but will probably put it in that little pocket/tray to the right of the column- at least there is such a pocket/tray in the 2006. I've searched this topic and noted at least three different options. Come Spring I will get down to it, as it is too cold presently, outside, to work in uncomfortable positions. At 73 I lack the flexibility of my too often wasted youth. Thank you all.
