Wanted to get thoughts on the black NFAB step bars. I cannot make up my mind on whether to get them or get the stainless. I have read about some powder coat issues with them. Where I live they like to use salt when there is a marginal chance of snow. Hate to buy black and have to get them redone or fool with having to return them to NFAB. Thoughts?

I'd get whatever goes well with the truck. Are you going for a black and blue theme?

Actually I think the truck can go either way. If I go black NFAB then I am getting Avid light bar with a black/machined wheel. If I go stainless then a chrome wheel or Mickey Thompson classic lock.

I have the SS on my Taco and love them, no worries about rust.

I have the black. I was worried about the finish on them as well. Been okay after a year or so, although last winter was mild so there wasn't much salt down on the roads.

Not a fan of linex. Besides if I am going to do that I'd rather get the stainless...probably be the same dollar wise.

Surely there has to be some others out there who have had the black NFABs for a while who can give feedback?

I have the black ones but hit them with the dupli color bedliner before putting them on. They were used but in great condition. I was concerned with the salt effect on them here in New England so I hit them with the bedliner for extra protection and add more texture to prevent slipping. this will be the first winter they are exposed to the elements.

Have you had any issues with bedliner flaking off? Don't really want to spray new steps.

I've have the black powder coated ones that were made in China since last April. They still look good with the new Avid Light Bar that I sprayed with black RUST-OLEUM truck bed coating. I live in northern Georgia and don't have to worry about salt though.

PS: Note the extra bar welded across the front at the bottom which Avid did for me.

Looks good. Still trying to make up my mind on which direction to take the truck.

Well sounds like I will be going with stainless. Don't want the hassle of dealing with the rust. Bummer that means no Avid light bar.

You could have the Avid Light Bar painted to match the color of your Taco which looks really good. Or you could have the Light Bar chrome painted, but IMHO chrome would not look very good.

Could not do chrome even though I generally like chrome. Not sure how it would look speedway blue. May just go with a stainless bull bar to dress up the front end a little.

Do a search to see some Avid Light Bars painted to match the trucks colors. I think it looks very good. :):):):)
