I use 87 octane and usually I get it at WaWa (cheapest in my area). Haven't noticed any problems in terms of power or pinging for the driving I do. I drive about mixed half/half city & highway with 4.0L 4WD Access Cab Automatic going 65mph on highway and I get overall average around 18mpg.

Only a couple times - I've filled up the tank and taken the truck on trips where my speed was 45mph consistantly for like 3 hours. My scanguage (setup for Average Per Tank) showed I was getting 23mpg Average.
So, I know its capable of getting great mileage if the conditions warrant so.

Here's a tip many know but others may not...

Avoid gas stations if you see the tanker in the parking lot. If he just filled up the tanks, he stirred up all the gunk that sits on the bottom. If you REALLY need gas from that particular station, ask him what octane he just filled and pump another octane into your truck.

I am not particular about the brand of gas...just the octane (91 or 93).

Best mpg... avoid stations w/ E10 or 10% ethanol sticker on it. If you have the option...

From what I've read some areas with madated E10 (not here) its only in 87, but not Premium. The increase in mpg may offset any additonal cost and a couple ponies to boot.
