New balance/ OTB desertlites surprised me, they actually held up pretty well and are comfortable as fuck, though I wish they had a bit more ankle support.

They issue us the Bellvilles for flight boots, but they are far from comfortable. I just started wearing them at the time because I didn't want to buy a new pair. I broke em in and I'm used to em now, at least they're waterproof... but thats about it.

My favorite for comfort has always been the Bates with the zippers, but they wear out so damn quick.... I think I'm gonna look into these boots you guys have been sharing.

jungle boots with ripple sole. I have been around the world and logged a ton of miles on a few pairs of these. My next favorite is the corcoran I's.

Swat Classic 9" They wear quickly but are comfortable for days and don't draw heat in garrison.

I wore issued boots for my first contract and a bit, wouldn't recommend it.

I knew TW would come through! Not to threadjack from you military types but I am looking for a lightweight, waterproof, steel toe boot. Do they make these tactical boots in steel toe? Oakleys, etc? Price is no object as I am going into a remote work camp and DO NOT want sore feet!

If you are going to be moving around a lot, you don't want steel toe boots. Use those only if you are in construction or doing something you need toe protection for, otherwise they just add weight and get in the way. "Tactical" boots should be lightweight and flexible. Of all the boots I've ever had Oakley's are hands down the best available, but do not offer a steel toe as far as I know.

I've got this pair of issued Altama i've been wearing for 8 years now (since AIT). I'm even considering getting it resoled even though i've literally accumulated almost a dozen other pairs of (non-altama) issues over the years. of course i am the lucky one with feet that hardly blisters...

I could never stand the damn things between how cheap they look and how fast they wear out, I always thought people bought them because it was all the exchange carried! Had a pair just to get me through 3 months of training earlier and couldn't wait to get into my superboots. YMMV!

I'm a pretty big fan of the Nike boots. I have also worn Altama ExoSpeeds for a while too. However, neither of them work good for jumping. But, if you're not jumping, then I would go with them.

The Bates with the zipper are my favorite too, but you're right, they wear out too quickly. I bought mine for OTS for a quick on/off boot and they were great.

I too wear the issued Bellvilles with a bag and I'm looking for something a little more comfortable. They just seem bulky and I feel clumsy in them. I'm no longer in an ejection seat aircraft so I'm a little more flexible on what I can wear. Looking for something that looks like Bellvilles to avoid scrutiny from leadership but fits like tennis shoes.

A precursor to the present military boots the Ft. Lewis Jump boots were my favorite. They were comfortable and also durable. Load up some of those laced up zippers and you were set.
Now they are even made by Sneaker manufacturers and I would presume are quite comfortable.
