I was doing some searching and could not find much about mudding on here. I want to set up my current taco for some serious mud. I first need to figure out the best way to get 4x4 since I keep getting stuck. Last time I almost burned up my clutch trying to get out. Dumping it several times got me even more stuck even though some of the people with me said it should work.
Should I get mud tires first or put in the stuff for 4x4?
I want to the biggest tires I can so maybe I will wait so I can find out what everyone thinks will fit. My uncle installed a transfer case and all that to our ranch truck so I will get him to help me with making my beast a 4x4.
Anyone know how big of tires I can go? 3 inch lift now and plan to put on a body lift for more room. Also what kind of tires would be best for getting through the thick mud?

Id put in for 4x4 Best off roading or should I say easiest (without much trouble) is done with 4x4, then get those tires.
Id go with Nitto Mud Grapplers and find id say 28? or 30.

If I was in your position, I'd go with some 33x10.50 Super Swamper Boggers.

Both are kinda needed for mudding. Self cleaning mud terrains will give you a shit tone more grip than clogging road or allterrain tires, but with no pull from the front getting stuck is just as likely

I meant size. Making sure you can fit tires into a Tacoma is always a very hard thing to do I mean 33 doesn't seem bad but I don't know if they would fit with a 3"inch. I've got a 6inch and tucked in some 35's and I get pretty bad scrape.

Wait! You have a what, trying to do what? 2x4, doing 4x4 stuff? Quit waisting your money, and save for the 4x4.

sell the tacoma and buy an old POS full size truck for that stuff. Don't ruin a perfectly good taco.

Plus you can easily lift the old beater with blocks front and rear and slap some 40's on it, and already have the V8 to pull the tires.

If its just a mud truck, then who cares?
It's going to get tore up one way or another anyway. I've seen much worse than lift blocks on those things.

Because you never put lift blocks in the front of a vehicle.

Oh ok. I've never heard that before, not that I would personally ever do it lol. What's the difference between putting them on the front and putting them on the back?

Anything from turning to hard braking makes them want to come out.

    This^^

Just a mud truck, who cares. I agree blocks in general are a terrible idea but I've seen much worse on good ol' boy rigs.

Why would I sell my truck for a POS Chevy or Ford? Even in 2wd my truck does awesome so of it were 4x4 with mudders it would be 10x better. The toyotas I have seen running the mud can out do the big turd trucks all day.
Didnt realize there would be so many jack ass haters on this site.
