a milky color in your oil is an indicator of water in the oil.

This...possibly coolant leak...coolant would be somehow leaking into the oil. Probably a bad head gasket. It could also be a warped head or if repairs have been made recently, the heads are not flat and not sealing right. Worst case scenerio, it could be a cracked cylinder.

HOPEFULLY used. Then again, my father in law to be hasn't changed the oil in his 99 GMC Safari in 25,000+ because "if it ain't broke, don't fix it...". Some people just don't have good car care sense...

Pics would help, but chances are, this is a normal condition. Since our filler necks are plastic and raised, they tend to take longer to heat up and burn the condensation off, specialy in a cold area and short trips are taken. If truck is allowed to run for a while, you won't see it as much.

Sometimes if the car is driven only for very short trips only around town, never really getting up to temperature, a small amount of condensation can build up around the filler cap. A long drive with the truck at temperature will "boil" the moisture out of the oil. I see this a lot in aviation motors. You definitely have a problem if your actual oil is milky.

Post a pic so we see exactly what you are facing. If you had a bunch of coolant in your oil, you would no it. But w/out a pic, we are just guessing.

If its under the oil cap itself.... It's normal.

This happens in the winter/cold months especially with a lot of stop/go or short trips. It's condensation that mixes with the oil at the cap where its coldest and can't burn off.

I get it every winter and especially in temps 30 degrees or less.

I'll be damned. Glad I live in Florida...no cold weather here...this would really bother me. Thank you for actually answering the question correctly, and +1 for sending him in the right direction.

It is almost like the pictures in the other thread. I was fairly sure it was not head gasket. No coolant loss, no odd color oil in drain pan, no steam at tail pipe, no over heating.
I took a picture with my phone but could not up load it.
I have had the truck for only 8k so that is why it is my second oil change.:p

Yeah, there has been many a thread with people worried about it. I myself have never experienced it, as I don't really take too many short trips, and truck gets up to full temp for a while, so it burns off the condensation. The thread I posted is the worse I have ever seen a pic of, so that's like the extreme of that condition.
