I have been keeping my eye open for an affordable lift for my 05 tacoma. I have been reading a lot of different threads (yes I did use the search function) and still haven't figured out what my best option is.

Today while doing donuts in an abandoned drive in movie theater I accidentally nailed a concrete speaker post base that had been uprooted somehow at almost full steering wheel deflection to the right. It caused me to slam to a complete stop. At first glance I see no damage, but I definitely need an alignment. My steering wheel is turned about 45 degrees to the left now to drive strait, although it tracks strait.

    So here is the dilema.
Instead of busting out 80 bucks on an alignment to probably lift my truck somewhere down the road and re-do it, I might as well lift it right now.

I am thinking bilstein 5100s. I don't have enough money for UCA's, so I am thinking that 2.5" is my limit for the front? I am on a limited budget (poor college student). I read somewhere that with stock coils wont ride very well if you set the bilsteins at 2.5 so I am thinking OME coils. Will I loose droop running this setup? Do I need extra length shocks to get the full droop while maintaining the lift? Although I am very able to wield a wrench and a huge motor head, I have never tweaked with a trucks suspension.

I probably don't have enough money to mess with the rear suspension right now. In the future just to level the truck out I am thinking an AAL and more 5100's, or should I go with longer shocks?

Whatever your input is it would be greatly appreciated. Also if there is something better for an equivalent price I would be interested.

    Thanks

Just a few little things. It's my DD
Well hopefully you didn't bend anything. There was another guy in here that hit something and bent his hub. You may wanna make sure you haven't bent anything before you spend money on lift. You could have bent anything and then you may just knocked out of alinement. If you limit budget just get spacers. I like mine. I may not have lots of "flex" but don't need much flex in mud holes and donuts(what I do). Mine rides like it did before. The mud tires hurt the most(ride and mpg). But defiantly give your truck a good look over.

Wow, I did look through that forum but totally missed the FAQ thread. If it was a snake it would have bit me, haha
That just answered most my questions. I am going to have the truck looked at. I really was moving quite slowly when I hit the block, maybe 5mph at the most.

Also looking at the impact with closer detail, I don't think that it really hit the tire. There is no rubbing and it drives fine. It looks like it bumped off the skid plate into the LCA and the tie rod.
