Really appreciate the feedback guys! I purchased teh Dakar pack last night and will put them in today. I am planning on removing one of the overloads so the rear end doesn't stick up to high.

The Dakars have 2 overloads , both are still in place in my pack .

The truck actually rides better with a bit of weight than it does unloaded.

FWIW , I will be adding the OME AAL , the d29xl , to add about 3/4" of height while I am loaded because I intend to raise the front a similar amount .

I did remove one overload from the Dakars and installed them today. Ended up sitting 1/2 of an inch higher than the 1 1/2 AAL gave me. I got the slight rake I was looking for and I am really impressed with the ride. Way better than AAL. With my toytec adjustable up front at 2 1/2 I am impressed. Next test is put some weight in the back to see how the Dakars hold up. I can always put the overload back if needed.

For about $100 more I think I'm going with the OME kit rather than Bilstein 5100 kit.

Complete Old Man Emu suspension for 2005 & UP Tacoma
    Includes:
    - (2) Front OME 90000 sport shocks (Replaces the OME N140S front shocks)
    - (2) Front coils-885 coils for D-Cab and additional front weight

Add top plate spacers in drop down below for a full 3" front lift with 884 and 885 coils
    Rear
    - ToyTec standard 2" add-a-leafs. Comes with (2) new center bolts
    - (2) Rear 60091 Nitrocharger Sport Shocks (Replaces N182 shocks)
    - (1) OME trim packer to be installed on the driver side to help level your Tacoma side to side.

    vs.

Double cab models may require top plate spacers for full 3" lift
    Includes:
C475 Height adjustable Bilstein front 5100 shocks
TP14 spacer for correction of drivers side lean
112-620 Eibach/Toytec front coil springs 620lb spring rate

Rear-TAC-AL Toytec standard 2" lift add-a-leafs with anti friction pads
    C476 rear Bilstein 5100 shocks

So for $100 more is this OME kit > Bilstein 5100 kit?

One more question...I posted this question in the sticky at the top of the page but...if I buy FJ trail team replicas will I still need wheel spacers with 285/75/16 tires?

I'm curious about this as well. I'm trying to decide between these two lift options and was wondering if I can run factory 17s with 285/75/17 tires without wheel spacers.

    Anybody?

Yes 2 stock overloads with the option of an AAL (sold separately).
On mine SnugTop HiLiner Shell & probably at least 100lbs of extra stuff in bed.

    No. Similar but not interchangeable.

sounds like thats the leafs im getting. now i just need to fing the springs. i fear getting the OME springs cause i hear so much about the realy quick sag and how bad it sags. not sure what else i can get. not going to run anything heavy, just a dune type bumper with now winch. not sure what brand is the best for just a few inches of lift and not a bad history of sag. thank you for your time.

Sag problem was fixed years ago when they came out with the x series as in 881x, 882x, 883x.

Just go to your control panel on the top left and then click on "edit signature" on the left hand column. From there you can link a picture of your truck. Make sure to have your photo uploaded to photobucket, Flickr or your preferred photo storage site. Or you can also upload it directly from your computer. Hope it helps.

There is a brake proportion valve that 1st Gens need to relocate when lifting.
BAMF makes them or make one yourself.
    Shackle bushing yes.
    Brake lines :notsure:

I would probably go this route for a short term fix Tacoma Spring refurbishing on 8+ year old leafs.
