Window Tint BS

Here in SC I know the legal limit is 27% on the front two driver and pass. windows. I have talke to two officers and they said that the rest of the windows, excluding windshield, can be as dark as they want......this to me makes no sense to me because if i were a cop pulling someone over i would want to be able to see through back glass.....As for me i have 5% on my front two and a 5% eyebrow and the rest of the windows are stock so it not that dark.

 

As for my situation here in SC i believe the side and back windows are darker than 27% stock...sooooo how do you regulate that? as for other states?

 

Factory tint is concidered legal AFAIK.

I have a letter from my eye doctor about light sensitivity and have my windshield at 50% and front side windows at 20%. I do 90% of driving during the day and the reduction in glare is well worth it. Especially long trips where my sunglasses start to bother me.

In the city at night, there is no problem with seeing. Out in the country, anything out the sides is hard to see unless it has lights, but out the windshield and in the path of the lights is quite fine.

I believe I paid around 150 - 180 for polarized tint and lifetime free replacement.

This is a picture from inside showing 20% on the side, nothing through the door opening and 50% on the front. The clarity through the tint is impressive.

 

mine is 35 on the side, 5 on the back and 40 on the windshield

 

I would love polarized but wonder how that would match up with my polarized shades

 

I have Maui Jim polarized sunglasses. They work just fine except you can see some rainbow effects. Hard to explain except that you get a slight prism type effect in your peripheral vision. You may see a tint of purple and then a tint of yellow. It doesn't have an effect in your direct vision, so it doesn't bother me.

 

Anyone know how much a "Fix It" ticket costs in california nowadays?

When I was young it was free, you just had to have a cop sign it off and send the ticket in....

I found a tint place by my house that will take the tint off the from windows and replace it after you get signed off.......but it's pretty expensive....

I just want to prolong the life of my interior.....

Dk if it's been asked. But what percent is our factory tint. Got a 2013 that came tinted in the rear and rear passenger windows. I want to tint the front 2 windows to match it. Thanks.

FormulaOne Pinnacle all around. Got lifetime warranty and install included for $370. Expensive, but they do an amazing job and the tint is very high quality.

Asked for 15% all around...this is on top of the factory privacy glass windows...and 50% for the windshield. Front two windows read at 13% and rear reads at 7%. Photos make it look a bit darker than it is.

 

Most decent tint shops will have a meter that can tell you. Problem is that if you do t tint the back a little darker, the color may not match exactly.

I wanna say its like 25%. IIRC

 

In Ky, outside of Fort knox. They did the front and dr side and pass side for 100 bucks. Willie and Mels did imo a great job. Check my pics. Never worried about the legality of the tint percentages, Military ID has got me out of most tickets for the last 20 yrs.

 

I got my driver and passenger windows tinted to match back which was told 18%....my problem is that when I am inside it.. the windows are darker than the factory tinted windows, but from outside it matches perfect..anyone else have this?

 

I had 5% all the way around on my 2008 Civic, didn't even get sniffed by the cops.
