Camera operators from Project Veritas, headed by James O’Keefe, asked police officers in their stations in North Carolina, New Jersey, and New York for advice on what homeowners should do while waiting for police to arrive. While a few officers suggested applying for gun permits, the group says the majority of the advice was the same: fend for yourself. Police suggested anything from locking yourself behind closed doors and screaming, using bleach and ammonia, and having a dog to protect your home.

I feel bad for the police in that they are terrified of telling you to get a gun and defend your home by whatever means necessary. You know most of them want to tell you that (some of them sounded like idiots though) but their hands are tied...

Without getting into political stuff here I am so thankful in TX for castle doctrine and the right which I have exercised for 4 years now of getting a concealed carry permit, which I hope becomes unnecessary in the near future if the open carry bill passes.

All Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. is saying is that you have the right to protect yourself. Get some training and hope you never have to defend yourself in a life or death situation. Solidad O'Brian was doing her job by adding drama to already highly political topic.

I tell everyone who asks me questions like this that if they feel they are responsible and able to do so, then they should consider buying a firearm.

I'm surprised they didn't suggest announcing you have herpes and throwing your feces and urine at them. That was what a politician recently suggested would be a good way of fending of a rapist as opposed to a firearm. WTF has this nation come to?

Land of the free & home of the brave indeed.
