Yes, it sounds promising but you need to set up your real CB antenna first and tune it for the best SWR possible before adding the matchmaker as the mud poster states. I have not installed mine yet because I have Sirius and no reason to listen to AM/FM so I haven't been motivated to install it. I am only expecting about 50% of the original FM reception range. If it negatively affects my CB, it will be removed immediately because I don't care that much about AM/FM, and I don't think purchasing it originally made much sense for me either, but I do want to try it since I own one.

Check my build page 1: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/builds/37641-snoboarders-rig.html

I used a Wilson Flex top loaded 3' antenna, great antenna IMO, if not the best antenna I've ever owned. The thinner diameter, the 180 degree flex and the performance make it a great choice. I fab'd a mount and tuned SWR to 1.5:1 across all 40 channels. Range and clarity is the best I've ever had with any of my CB setups. It is not a "fairly easy mod" as the mod took a lot of thought, planning and time to plow through the unknown and fab 2 different prototype mounts to make it happen. I personally think the result is kick-ass.

I definitely think my current setup is the best performing CB setup I've ever had. If I had to do a bed mount antenna again, it'd mount it away from the cab and get at least a 4' antenna. If I could do a 4' up front I would, but entering and exiting my garage with the 3' bangs it around enough that I doubt I'll change it.

Lastly, for anyone thinking of the opposite design of transmitting CB over a stock FM antenna, that is not a good plan IMO. Using a real CB antenna and the matchmaker makes better sense if you want all 3 on 1 antenna. Call Firestick, they'll tell you everything you need to know about it. I'll post up in my build what I think of the matchmaker if I get around to trying it one of these days.:)
