Every once in a while i'll come to a stop at a red light for example and it feels like somebody hit me from behind with a light push and i hear a slight slamming noise. what is this???? I have a 2011 TX pro auto

your driveshaft. if you look under your truck, youll see a small rubber sleeve on the driveshaft. you have to undo the metal clamp around it, unbolt the driveshaft from the rear diff, and slide the rear part of the driveshaft out. get some mobil 1 synthetic grease, put a shitload in the pocket, slide the driveshaft back together, put a zip tie around the rubber sleeve unless you figure out how to reuse the metal clamp (i couldnt), and youre good. takes like 30 mins tops.

The "push" you feel is your engine compensating for your A/C compressor drag.

could be... but that doesnt make it feel like the truck is slamming into a lower gear like the slip joint does...

im still under warranty, did it myself, i would encourage OP to as well. dealer will rush, use shitty grease, and you dont fully know what they did. it honestly doesnt take any time to do, and if you do it, you can load it right up to ensure it doesnt come back for a while. id get into habit of doing it every 10-15k or so. i'd like to figure out how to add a grease zerk to the slip joint so i could just throw the gun on it and give it a few pumps, instead of taking the whole cocksucker apart.

When this happens are you doing an abrupt stop (do you come up to the stop fast or slowly?) Also, is the climate controls on or off? Might check the torque of the rear leaf u-bolts... should be around 73 ft lbs.

I get the same thing on very hard stops. Its about 50x stronger than the compressor kicking on. It does not feel like a bump but a crash.

    ^ That's what's known as axle wrap.

Make sure your spare tire is cranked up all the way and tight against the underside. That's what was causing my thump. Easy fix.

Mine does it too. It's either axle wrap or the slip joint.
