Regarding the use of sliders as steps (good bit of comment around here on that topic), how useful are sliders as a stepping point for entry into the cab? In order to step on the slider one must lift the foot nearly the same height that it would take to step all the way into the cab. Steps extend much lower to accommodate the stepping up process. I am going back and forth on my choice, but will likely chose steps (nerf - Smittybilt) so my 5'2'' spouse can get in the truck!

    Thoughts or comments?

They are not great as steps. I do not use mine as a step. It does help for little ones, like my son. He uses the slider to get him over the hump.

Do you want steps or do you want protection? They're not remotely the same thing. The sliders will function as somewhat of a step, but the steps will not at all function like a slider.

I knew I wanted sliders for protection, so to use them for getting into/out off the truck is secondary, but there are options: Beefed Taco makes these bolt on steps...

Work great for my kid and wife on her 4Runner and I've just been lazy getting them back onto my Taco after my last offroad trip.

They took some paint off the slider, but so did the rocks and trees, so I'm a fan.

There's a thread somewhere that someone put on a set of Avid bolt on sliders upside down to give more of a step. But you lose that close up protection.

My sliders are used as steps all the time but I would recommend having filler plates put on them. My pup got her foot stuck in them once.
