Variable speed wiper question

I have just joined the forum and I really like the ease in which I can navigate around the site, I am also a member of a Yamaha forum as I have a motorbike and everything is very familiar, great job.

I have a 2007 PreRunner with the base package, my windshield wipers only have the Mist, Speed 1 and Speed 2 control on the wiper stalk.
I live in Washington so my wipers get a lot of use and I wish I had the variable speed wiper control, as we get a lot of fine rain this option would be great to have.
Does anyone know if I was to purchase variable wiper control stalk that attaches to the column would it work with my truck.
Basically is it the switch in the stalk or the actual wiper motor that makes the wiper blades operate with the variable action.
Has anyone asked this question before if yes or no does anyone know the answer?

Well I finally got around to fitting the Intermittent Wiper Switch, real easy job and yes here in Washington it was raining today, and it was the typical fine misty type rain this state tends to get, perfect to try out the new switch

Thanks again for the advise, now I need to find some fog lights for the front, a rear veiw mirror with the compass in or compass temp roof console and a small bright lamp for mounting under the rear bumper, sometmes it is nice to have more light when you are backing up.

Should be the same. Remove the wiper switch, and take all sorts of pics of it, including the connections, and post them here to clarify that the connections are the same. Best I can do for you is a pic of mine off a 2010 that I replaced with an intermittent.

84652-04141...works fine.

Also...the Yaris sedan and Taco share the same switch, except that the Yaris comes standard with a 3-speed switch (lo, high and fixed intermittent of about 3 seconds). You might be able to find one a little cheaper than the switch I listed above. I sold one to a member here for $40. It might not have the variable intermittent feature, but he was happy to have that extra speed.

 

Op, don't forget cruise control, I had same problem,base model, I installed the wiper switch, CC, fog lights ,make sure you have the pre-wire for foglights, if you do then all you will need is the relay,switch, and lamps, there are always lamps for sale on here, cheap, there is also a fellow that makes overhead consoles, you might want to take a look at. I purchased my CC from a dealer, wiper switch from (Slatercat, it was very nice for half the price) and fogs on TW.

Got my switch in the mail. Had a hydraulic cylinder (for my small back hoe) to rebuild last night (that is after a 12 hour work day) then on to getting the switch installed. U guys are soooo good, me well a bit slow ( didn't chance the beer part ) got'r done in 20 minutes, as I am gett'n a bit old and had to get a flashlight to see good enough (it was getting dark out).
